It was inevitable that the Slot-Tech race would be decided on brute power and performance both of which were present in Grahams CLK the car blasted round the circuit like an express train , no other car could come close to the pace set by this one,Phil Kalbfells Lola whilst it had the handling didnt have the staight line speed to keep up,Phil also had a pickup wire break when John Lomas spun on the haiirpin but did not loose much time as it had been decided to do all repairs as a track call as we were a bit short of help today with the holiday .
Grahams Porsche was also on good form suiting the track perfectly, being only a bit slower in the straight than Phils Lola despite being powered by a V12.Phils other car had a few handling problems causing it to deslot unpredicably
Rhys Filbees Mosler 1 ran as smooth as ever although slow on the straight you could keep it virtualy flat round both bankings.Rhys's other car ran faultlesly and had plenty of speed but didnt handle as well as his other
Adrians Merc proved to be quick again but another snapped lead wire caused problems
Larrys R+S suited the track 100% andwas really a joy to drive but lacked a bit of top end, the Corvette was still a pig to drive but put in some quick times as there was plenty of places to let it rip.
Chris Briggs 2 entrys drove very well being both fast and stable ,the CLK had only one minor problem when a front tyre peeled off the rim every one enjoyed driving Chris's cars as they were very user friendly,if a little over weight.
Dave Grays car ran a very smooth race but just lost out on horsepower the chassis being very good but the motor was not strong enough to pull it.
Bills Panoz performed really well but like Daves just didnt have the power to mixit with the leaders.
Chris Priest had another bit of bad luck when his car lost a wheel,up till then he had been having a decent run the car suiting the track well
Les Fennels car was ok in a straight line but like Larrys Corvette struggled to take the corners ,I think the main problem is the car runs on the front wheels and also has a fixed axle perhaps independant rotating wheels would have helped improve this car.
Erlings car whilst quick didnt deliver the goods like at Bolton deslotting with out warning at the end of the straights ,Gregs similar car put in a very good performance and gave no problems through out the event.
Grahams Plastic CLK never fully recovered from yesterdays chassis damage and couldnt live with the pace of the other cars
