BOLTON RESULTS

When the ALMS cars arrived at Bolton we knew we were in for an exiting days racing  .At first glance  the track appears to be just a distorted  figure 8 but bolton despite its long straights is very much a drivers circuit.

Phil Kalbfels cars suited the track well and were sure to figure well in the results as were Rhys Filbees,Grahams cars were all a bit of a hand full even the Porsche which found the surface a bit too grippy as did both CLKS.

Adrian Grays CLK suited the track perfectly but lost out when a lead wire broke ,Dave Grays car took up the challenge and put up some very good times round Bolton.

Chris Briggs and Erling Brox  cars were balistic  but Gregs similar car proved too tippy and suffered more body damage . Chris also suffered a cracked motor mount  but Graham soon repaired this ..

Bills Panoz plodded round putting up some respectable times even winning a race when driven by Bolton regular Graham Walker.

Graham Windles Porsche left the track at full speed bending the front axle and smashing the body, his plastic chassised CLK also suffered from impact damage breaking the antideck spine causing the chassis to split in 2

Chris Priest and Les Fennels cars both went much better than at Pendle putting up some good times

Larry Shephards  R+S ran really well but lost a wheel in one heat  spoiling what would have been a very good performance  ,The Corvette whilst again probably the fastest car on the straights proved too much of a hand full for the Bolton track.. Maybe tommorows race at Slot tech will suit it more with its fast cambered bends and long straights.

Phils Lola was in a class of its own while not the fastest it certainly out handled the rest of the feild again,a well deserved winner.Rhys's Mosler 1 would have figured better but it lost a body pin causing it to pit when being driven by Bolton regular  Alan Bullough.

Boltons  Derek Howell turned in some storming runs and set fastest time of the day with Phils Lola, not bad for 74 yrs old.

BOLTON

Bolton

Bolton is one of the oldest clubs in the UK and have a history dating back to the 1960s the current track is a 90 ft 5 lane routed mdf circuit with recessed braid for pick up ,despite its tight apearance Bolton is a very fast track with cheetah powered international 32s turning in low 5 second laps.

Bolton do not usualy race scalex type cars,Their main classes are 1/24 flexy cars and 1/32 international 32 ,so their round of the ALMS will be a first for them although in the past they previously hosted  rounds of the NSCC saloon championship.

Power is by heavy duty charger and battery  no shortage of amps here.

Timing is by computer and is to 100th/sec.
