How to Promote Your Website

Tips for Your Shopping Cart

If you have products to offer you can easily sell them from your Freewebs site.

Steps for adding Paypal buttons to your pages

How to add images to your page for items you are selling

Formatting Your Pages

Adding a shopping cart to your site is not difficult, but the formatting of the pages can sometimes pose a challenge.

You will probably want to add images of the items you are selling next to each Paypal button. Do not add these images to an album page. Instead, add them to regular pages in your account.

Adding a separate item to each content box or paragraph

You may wish to add one item per content box (in PageBuilder mode) or paragraph (in Classic Editor mode).

With this method, you can easily delete entire items when you no longer sell them by deleting the entire content box or paragraph.

This works well if you offer a few items on each page.

Split Content Box

If you are using the new Freewebs PageBuilder you may wish to utilize the "split content box" feature to organize your items on the page. With this option, you can split the content box into 2 or 3 columns.

Using a table

If you are using the new Freewebs PageBuilder or the Classic Editor you may find adding a table gives you good control over how the buttons and images work in your site.

The shopping cart shown here is for a design-your-own-candle shop. You can see that this is one jar style offered in several sizes, with color and fragrance choices.

By putting the item into a table it allows the shop owner to offer several styles with a multitude of options while keeping the page neat in appearance. It also makes it easy for visitors to create the candle they want.

Advanced Button Options

For advanced needs, you may find creating your button code on the Paypal.com website is needed. For instance, you may require options such as the ones used by the candle site above, or options such as size and style. In that case, you would need to create your buttons on the Paypal website and then add the codes they provide you into your pages.

Adding options to your items

First, log into your Paypal account and go to the Merchant Services area. Then click on the "add to cart button".

After filling out the fields for creating your button, select "Add More Options"

Next, add the options you wish to add to your buttons. Use the "how to use option fields" link given  on the Paypal page to find out more about how to use these options.

You can see from the candle site how these show up - the color "Ivory" has been chosen, and now the purchaser is selecting the "Baby Powder" fragrance:

 Shipping and other Options

You may also set up particular shipping rules within the Profile area of your Paypal account.

Remember, if you have special requirements for your Paypal buttons that are not offered in the widget bank, you will need to contact Paypal directly for assistance.
