And we wonder:
Will Buffy be able to get over Angel? Will Giles be able to get over Jenny? Just how much does Snyder know about the evil in Sunnydale? Is Snyder literally evil and working against Buffy? Is that why he hates her so much? Just who is the mayor of Sunnydale? Why does he instill so much fear in Snyder? Why is he concerned with Buffy being expelled? What happened to Whistler? Does Xander love Willow? Or was he just trying to emphasize how much their friendship meant? What will happen between Xander and Willow? Will Buffy ever make up with her mom? Will the police realize that Buffy didn't kill Kendra? Will Buffy find out that Xander neglected to tell her about the ritual? Will Buffy's mom forgive Giles?
Now We Know:
Giles is having a hard time coping with Jenny's death. Willow is researching paganism and magic. Angel regained his soul, but was sent to hell with acathala at the hand of Buffy. Spike left town with Drusilla. Kendra is dead. Joyce kicked Buffy out of the house, but then regretted it afterward. Buffy is wanted for Kendra's murder. Buffy is expelled from Sunnydale High School. Buffy went to Los Angeles. Joyce blames Giles for everything that's happened with Buffy.
My overall rating for this episode: 4/10
Nitpicks
- The singer at the Bronze... both her song and her implants... bad.
Praise
- Buffy stepping on the guy whose ass she kicked on her way out.
Some Analysis:
[Buffy, the Vampire Slayer] It took Buffy 4 months to remember her strength. She felt completely alone in the world after what happened at the end of season 2. No one could possibly share her pain... a dead lover, a mother who disowned her, a wanted criminal, and expelled from high school right before senior year. How many people do you know that can relate to a situation like that? Feeling cut off from her life, Buffy just went with it and cut herself off from everything. Trying to deal with her pain internally, Buffy became more and more harsh towards others. After being sought by someone she helped in the past, and with the threat of her life being completely torn from her, Buffy realized what she was worth. She is strong and helpful and belongs in this world. She can't hide from life, she needs to stand up and smack it in the face and do her best to cope with everything that happens. With that, Buffy gives the new "Anne" a good head start and heads back into life to stand up to it let it know what she's about.

Real Life Version:
Isolation. There are times in our lives when we feel like no one can understand our pain. It's these times that we bottle it up and without knowing it, cause those around us anguish because they have no way to help us. Whether we are emotionally or physically out of reach, we need to understand that breaking away from the world can never help us deal with the realities that it brings. It's necessary to embrace life and all the hardships it brings, work through our problems, and take advantage of the support available.
