This was a speech Nick had given before he and his brothers performed "A Little Bit Longer" in Toronto, Canada on July 4th, 2008. It was the first stop on their new headlining tour, "Burning Up" which, Demi Lovato, a star from Camp Rock and a personal friend of the brothers, is also on.
"A Little Bit Longer" was written by Nick Jonas, and it's about his diabetes. Nick has Type 1 diabetes, and was diagnosed two years ago.
This song will be on their new album, releasing August 12th. The album is also titled "A Little Bit Longer".
This is an amazing song. It's beautiful.
This speech was incredible that he gave. We all cried watching this video.
"Now, I have a question. How many people, of you here tonight, have gone through a hard time in your life? One of those moments when life throws an unexpected turn ball at you. I had one of those moments, about two and a half years ago when I got diagnosed with diabetes. It was a shock. And we had been on a school tour...and I found out. When I went into the hospital that night, I made a commitment to myself...that I wouldn't let it slow me down. And I'm here to tell you, that it hasn't slowed me down.
Now today, I met a few wonderful people. People who have also been through a hard time. They told me, that my story encouraged them. Now, tell me, who would've thought, that my hard time, would one day, encourage all of you.
And I was having another one of those days, when my blood sugar was a little out of control, and there was a tough day. So I sat down, and I wrote this song.
This song right here, is for every broken heart, for every lost dream, for every single tear, for every high, and for every low.
Tonight, Toronto, Canada, tonight, this song, this song's for you.
Now what I want you to do, is I wanna hear you sing. I wanna hear every broken heart, every lost dream, and every person who's getting through a high and a low. I wanna hear you sing this song out, with all of your heart."
