Project Typhoon is all about building an antweight combat robot, which is explained on our homepage. For competition entry, it should conform to the rules and regulations, which can be found at http://www.robotwars.co.uk . Also the components must be light, otherwise it will be disqualified. Here are our suggested components:-
Batteries: LiPol's (Lithium Polymer) are best, as they can have a high capacity at at a minimum weight. But NiMh's(nickel Metal Hydride) are good too.
Radio gear: Ultralight aircraft recievers are ideal. Some can weigh as little as 8 grammes! Hi Tec's feather is ideally suited, but choose 40MHz to conform to the rules.
Drive: with the propulsion, you can modify the servos, so they can turn 360*. It saves space and weight, so a powerful pair of servos can be used, instead of a tiny servo and a tiny, weak motor. A full guide on modifying servos can be found on the servo mod page.
Armour: The best thing to use is balsa. But on its own, its very soft. So you should paint it with cellulose dope. This should be available in your hobby shop. It hardens up the wood, so impacts won't dent it.
