Week 6

Game of the Week :

          Louisville vs North Carolina

In a great Friday night game, North Carolina was trying to win their second game of the season, facing this year's all girl team, Louisville.

Both teams played with great intensity on both offense and defense, and were really going to their star players through the entire game.

North Carolina was led in scoring by Jourdan Hoy, and Jacon Renn. Hoy had a total of 15 points, and Renn had 21 points of his own.

Renn was key this game, he was dominating in the paint, and was a monster when it came to rebounding.

Louisville was led by Shania Johnson who scored 18 points, and Lyric Forney who scored 16 points.

At halftime the score was 25 to 19, in favor of North Carolina.

Early into the second half, Forney hit two three point shots, that put Louisville up by two with about 12 minutes left in the game.

The game stayed close throughout the second half, with a lot of back to back scoring until the final possesions of the game.   The game really started to heat up and the whole crowed was tuned in to see what would happen next..

With 13 seconds left in the game, Louisville was down by one point, and Johnson was on the free throw line for two shots. And she hit the both the shots to put her team up by one.

North Carolina had a chance to take the lead with their next possesion, but could not capotialize, and turned the ball over.

But the game was not over, North Carolina was only down by 1 point with five seconds left in the game.

Louisville inbounded the ball to their point guard, and Johnson went to the line again, for two more shots, and she made both of the shots, now Louisville was up by four points.

With two second left in the game, the Carolina coach called a time-out to give his players a plan.

In a last ditch effort, North Carolina heeved the ball the length of the court only for the ball to go out of bounds.

And Louisville would end up winning the game, 46 to 42.

Another Honorable Game to Mention:

        Lakers vs Timberwolves

In an amazing overtime thriller, the Lakers and Timberwolves played a well fought game.

In the first half of the game, the Timberwolves were out playing the Lakers, and were looking at a ten point lead, 36 to 26.

Then the Lakers put on a run, and tied up the game with about 4 minutes left in the second half.

The Timberwolves regained the lead with 36 seconds left, with a nice "And 1" lay-up by Xavier Stewart, but the foul shot was missed.

After back to back misses by both teams, the Lakers had the ball with twelve seconds left, and Matthew Myers got fouled and went to the line. Myers made both shots and the game was tied.

The Timberwolves had one last chance, but the shot taken was no good, and the game went into overtime.

In overtime the game came down to the Lakers up by 3 with 6 seconds left, and a three point shot attempt was missed by the Timberwolves.

The Lakers won the game 63 to 60, in overtime.

The Lakers had a lot of players contribute to their win. Matthew Myers had 19 points, Benjamin Gessell had 16 points, Jonathan Jones had 14 points, and Chris Shrivers had 12 points.
