Week 1- Highlight of the Week

Highlight of the Week : Lakers vs Bulls

The defending champion Bulls are back and ready to play.

In a blood racing, back and forth game the Lakers and Bulls made opening day into what it should be.

The Lakers started off with a 5-0 run in the early seconds of the game, with a quick three point shot and a nice fastbreak lay-up, by Jonathon Jones.  And that was the wake up call for the defending champion Bulls.

The two teams battled even for the whole first half. With plenty of back to back layups from both teams.

At the half, the score was tied at 32.  Bulls came out and looked amazing and quickly took a 39 to 32 lead, with help from a deep 3 point shot from Joe Atromonvage, the Lakers coach quickly looked to the ref and called for a timeout.

After some back and forth scoring the Lakers were facing an eight point deficit.

Lakers kept close throughout the whole game, but the duo of Shiheed and Joe seemed way too much to contain.

About 6 minutes into the second half, Joe Atmonavage came down on three straight possessions and hit 3, 3 point shots from right in front of the halfcourt line, with a serious look on his face. Which led up to an outstanding 26 point performance.

Shiheed Bowie seemed to find a way to what appeared to be every offensive rebound, and he followed up with a put back score for two points. Bowie finished the game with a total of 17 points.

With 10:12 left in the second half Joe drove to the lane, and got an amazing "And 1" play that put the Bulls up 12 and seemed to put the game away.

With an incredible 6-0 run by Jon Jones, the Lakers got themselves down three points with 2:52 left. After a couple bad possessions from both sides, returning player, Ken Wims decided to take over. Ken hit a 3 point shot, then turned around and stole the inbound play and gave the Bulls a 5 point lead, which added to his 15 point performance.

The Bulls never looked back and countined to dominate, with help from Joe and Shiheed and finished the game with a 72-60 win.

During the after game interview Shiheed was asked how he felt about his first game he stated " Good, confident, I feel we can continue to win."  He went on to say "I think our team can repeat a championship."  When asked how he thinks he can contribute to that repeat championship Shiheed stated "Continue to rebound and keep scoring points"

That concludes the first highlighted game of the season, it was a great match-up and an even greater way to begin the season for the Bulls.

Until next week this is P-Rob and I'm out!
