PRISMd. united with GHOST ADVENTURES and GHOSTVILLAGE

                                  in partnership!

                     "Striving for Excellence...."

The Paranormal Research and Investigation Society of Maryland is based in Catonsville, Maryland. The Society is operated as an all volunteer group to professionally investigate sites of suspected paranormal activity, or known as "haunted". Investigations are conducted on a professional basis, seeking to disprove a "haunting" through the use of deductive reasoning. All information will be kept in total confidentiality. All findings will only be used for training purposes. Each case is handled with care, concern, and hopefully a conclusion.

Nationally recognized paranormal investigators Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Nick Groff, and the entire team at "Ghost Adventures", are united with PRISMd. in a joint venture of national recognition of paranormal investigators united to study, and document paranormal activity. Serious investigations by dedicated, credible investigators working towards the goal of paranormal unity. PRISMd. is honored to be recognized nationally by "Ghost Adventures" and accepted into the paranormal investigative fold of the "Ghost Adventures Crew"!

The fine folks at Ghostvillage.com recognizes teams in the paranormal field. Certain credibility comes with being recognized by Ghostvillage. PRISMd. is proud to continue the tradition of professionalism in the paranormal field with this recognition.

The Society will not accept, nor demand any fees for the investigations the Society performs. The Society operates under a strict Code of Conduct, and any member violating such oath of the Code will be dismissed from the Society. The Society is operated much like a law enforcement agency with discipline, rank structure, and most of all, INTEGRITY.

The Society's members come from all parts of the Maryland regional area. The Society is open for new members. As a requirement for membership, all candidates must pass a mandatory criminal background check. All members of the Society must undergo training in case analysis, historical documentation, technical operations, and the use of modern scientific equipment.

PRISMd will work with other credible paranormal groups on investigations to give those involved a complete, and detailed  professional analysis. PRISMd welcomes any members of other groups for a co investigation, but will also have to undergo the same criminal background screenings to assure integrity.

If a demonic or malevolent entity is found, we can put you in touch with clerical, or other groups for help. We will assist where we can, and we are not Egon Spengler and the "Ghostbusters" to get out photon streams to rid those pesky spirits. We leave this for dedicated professionals. The Society is a fact finding group only. PRISMd is serious about quality work on our investigations. If we don't know something, we will admit it.

If you want professional results, rely on PRISMd to give you dedicated service with a group that handles each case professionally. If you want a bunch of amateur future televsion stars, or some of those other phony wannabes call Central Casting. If you want results, call PRISMd. We are serious in our research, and serious in our results.

Just Say No To Ouija Boards.

Why say no to Ouija boards?

Some say they are portals to evil. Some say they are portals to lost souls. Some say they can communicate with deceased loved ones. But there are some who claim this board can be manipulated by hucksters and charlatans to dupe emotional clients into believing the communication is real.

Started as a game, and weaved into a methodic concotion of paranormal and playtime. Now the Ouija board is making a comeback, and are used by some "paranormal investigative" groups. And some of these same groups base their sole evidence in an "investigation" by the "findings" rendered by the Ouija board.

PRISMd. does not use Ouija boards, nor does PRISMd. condone their use either. True evidence can be captured by modern scientific equipment. Ouija boards can be manipulated. Regardless of your beliefs, the evidence that proves Ouija boards are reliable are dim at best.

PRISMd. urges those who have Ouija boards, and who wishes to dispose of them, to bind the board and the planchette in a plastic bag with Sea Salt, and bury them deep underground. Ouija boards are not for amateurs.

PRISMd. ALERT!

                    PRISMd. Alert!

Help Save Spring Grove State Hospital!

PRISMd. has recieved news of the planned redevelopment of the second oldest continually used psychiatric hospital in the United States. Spring Grove State Hospital, now called Spring Grove Hospital Center, is being considered as a site of a large megaplex mall, restaurants, liquor stores, and 12 story condiminium complex. With the current state of the infrastructure in Southwestern Baltimore County, Catonsville cannot handle the volumes of traffic, nor the loss of a historic and essential hospital.

Spring Grove was built during the American Civil War. There were three points of entry by road which had their own gate houses, (Wade Avenue, Paradise Avenue, and Asylum Lane). Only the Paradise Avenue and Asylum Lane gatehouses remain standing. Vacant, haunted, but standing. At one time, Spring Grove was a self sufficient campus with it's own farm, dairy, pig, beef, and chicken barns. It had it's own slaughterhouse, and fields where the fruits and vegetables were grown. Also there were large stables of horses for farm, and campus labor. Eventully due to the cost of upkeep, and the decline of manpower, the farm was torn down, and made way for the current campus of the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

And with the thousands of mentally ill patients who were confined and recieved treatment there, for many spent their entire lives on the grounds, and died there. And many poor souls are buried in unmarked graves on the campus today. At Weltmer Bowl, Spring Grove's famous baseball field, several hundreds of patients were buried without fanfare or a decent funeral, only to be played on top of later in the afternoon during a baseball game. And yet, the denial by the State of Maryland of such disposal of the patients remains is appalling.

And the local politicians support the "Promenade" so it is called. From Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith, Baltimore County First District Councilman Samuel Moxley, and 10th District State Senator Delores Kelley would rather see needless retail space, than the preservation of a historic landmark and much needed psychiatric treatment facility. Yet if this plan does become reality, hundreds of patients from juvenile, adult, and elderly, will literally be tossed out to make room for a greedy developer to put the final nail in the coffin of the quiet town of Catonsville.

Many buildings that remain are stucturally sound, but as with older buildings, asbestos and lead paint are some of the problems encountered. Yet the proposed mall will not only destroy these buildings, but the wooded acreage, the natural aquafirs, and the places where the paranormal community could use for itself, the haunted campus that is Spring Grove.

For more information on Spring Grove State Hospital Petition, please visit:   http://catonsvillevoices.org  And please sign the petition. No matter where you live, or who you are, every voice should be heard loud and clear. If Spring Grove is doomed for the wrecking ball, then what other sacred site is next? Please at least let the patients buried there rest in peace.

For more photos of Spring Grove, and info about the campus, please visit:   http://www.springgrove.com

Let the voices be heard! Let there be voices given to those who couldn't speak for themselves!

             Help Save America's Lost Cemteries.

   Peerce's Cemetery by KatCricket.

As many of you may try to research your family tree, you may have come across certain databases, and other tools to help in your geneological request. But with the passage of time, we often forget about the final resting places of our ancestors.

We at PRISMd. are applalled by such neglect, such calloused behavior of certain individuals who view profit over peace. As in the article above, there are hundreds of bodies buried on the grounds of Spring Grove State Hospital. Many of these patients became wards of the state when their families no longer wanted, nor cared for them. But after the release of their Earthly suffering, they were unceremoniously disposed of like yesterday's garbage without fanfare, and without an identity. Just a plain wooden box, and placed under the soil of a sports field. And with the impending threat of a careless, yet greedy developer, politicians who care about political viability than preserving a sacred ground, many of our cemeteries are disappearing with the ever encroaching overdevelopment of shopping malls, condominiums, liquor stores and Section 8 housing.

And as we see our communities die to big box stores, sacred grounds such as small family cemeteries are dug up, and sometimes never properly reinterred. We are losing this battle everyday. Not only are there problems from the developers, but the ravages from the weather, overgrowth, and vandalism has caused many of these historic resting places of our departed to fall into jeopardy.

Yet there is something you can do. You can research locations of forgotten graveyards. If there is one close to you, and it is in need of clean up or repair, join with other like minded folks who can donate time and materials to help clean and maintain these hallowed grounds. Urge your legislators to enact legislation to protect these sites. If they are honorable, they should join the fight to preserve our past.

Please do not let these people, their voices, nor their memory be forgotten...

Save Our Historic Homes and Farms!

PRISMd1107.jpg picture by jaj4764

Far too many times have the farming families of America faced the finality of family farming. Through the lack of interest of the next generation, or due to the ever increasing costs of day to day operations, the family farms are fading into the pages of history. Many of these family farms are disappearing under the blades of bulldozers and backhoes. Massive shopping malls, retail outlets, huge box stores, and needless condiminium space are covering sacred grounds such as these.

Small towns disappear under waters for a reservoir, family homes and cemeteries bulldozed for profit, and remains of loved ones winding up in landfills like common day trash. Yet with abandoned land in our cities that can be recycled, like the cancer that is urban blight comes to the country. Bringing with it squalor, crime, and pestalence. Yet many of our so called "elected officials" actually care about what goes on around them.

PRISMd. is partnered with numerous groups to help preserve these historic, and valuable links to our past. We hope that you too will join us to preserve the past.
