Just a little about me!

Hello, my name is Paula Riccabona.

I have always been an animal lover. I can remember when I was a kid, and my dad raised coon dogs, it seemed that the responsibility of new pups fell on me, which I accepted eagerly. If we had a "mamma" that had too many puppies, I would bundle them up and bring some of them into the house to help her by bottle feeding them.

I also remember, that he would sometimes run into the situation that the coon that the dogs found, had babies, when that happened he would put the little baby coons in his shirt pocket and bring them home to raise. Looking back on that, and remembering all the places that I would have to take my "babies"I think I was nuts. I remember my mom being in a volleyball tournament and me packing up my ice chest and making sure that I had enough milk and ice to make it till she got through, for a couple of little coons. When I was a kid, we had so many different animals that needed to have bottle feedings, I don't know where to even begin. I remember coons, deer, calf, rabbits, squirrels, birds, kittens, even a skunk I am not sure how but it seems that they would always find their way to our house.

I remember when I would find an "orphaned kitten\ puppy\bird" and tell my mom, "But I have to bring it home", she would let me. I remember one time when I was in about the 3rd grade, someone at school told me that they had, I don't remember 2 or 3 puppies, and that their daddy said that if they couldn't find anyone to take them that he was going to throw them off a bridge, well guess who ended up with them! I can't believe my mom tolerated all these pets.

And my sister, Oh My Gosh, she would have a fit over these animals, I remember once my guinea pig got loose, and it ended up in her boot under her bed. All I really remember about the whole deal is her standing in the middle of her bed screaming. I guess that I was kind of mean though, but I would never admit it to her. One of the coons that I raised would chase her, she would jump from couch to chair from chair to couch, because I would tell this coon to get her. AND HE WOULD!  Needless to say I would just laugh about it. She would be threatening me and screaming the whole time.

After I got older and moved out of my parents house, people started calling me, when they would find a baby animal that needed help. I had a man that called, he was a tree trimmer, he had cut down a tree, and afterwards found some baby squirrels. He called and wanted to know if I could take them, well, what was I to say.  Another time I remember, a lady called me and told me that her dog that had just had 6 puppies, had gotten hit by a car, she had been bottle feeding them for a couple of days, but her husband told her to find a new home for them NOW or he would. So....... What could I say! Thats how its been just about all my life. It didn't matter what it was . If I could help I surely would, if I couldn't I would try to point the people in the right direction.

So now I have Schnauzers

your dog will always be there, no matter how bad you screw up!
