Welcome to the Cecilians!

Preston Cecilian Choral Society is an 80-strong choir based in the city of Preston, Lancashire, UK. It sings several concerts a year in venues across the city of Preston. Sometimes it is accompanied by an orchestra, sometimes by an organ or piano, and sometimes it is not accompanied at all! The repertoire ranges from choral society favourites such as Handel's Messiah and Mendelssohn's Elijah to lighter arrangements of jazz standards and folk songs and everything in between.

Recent and forthcoming highlights

10th December 2006: Handel's Messiah with City of Preston Orchestra in Preston Guild Hall to an audience of over 600 people, followed by appearances on BBC1's North West Tonight and BBC Radio 2's Easter Glory

24th November 2007: 80th Anniversary Concert of Handel, Vivaldi and Puccini with professional soloists accompanied by the 40-strong City of Preston Orchestra in Preston Minster

25th November 2008: Beethoven's 9th Symphony with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Vladimir Ashkenazy at Preston Guild Hall
