The poor people's camapaing started in June 19, 1968. Over 50,000 showed up to protest. They were all there to protest economic rights. The protest was held in Washington D.C. The poor peole campaing was started by  Dr.Martin Luther King. King was killed 3 weeks before the campaing actually started.  After King was killed his good friend Ralph Abernathy took over.  King started the Poor People's Campaign so that "the poor are no longer divided".
