Time is the most precious thing we have but we are the poorer if we can't spend a little time on a friend

In these pages you will find my poems

Some are from lifes experiences some purely from my imagination

But I hope you enjoy reading each one as much as I have in the making of them

All poems on these pages are covered by Copyright

There is a very warm welcome to all who come to view these pages

No matter what your age is

I hope you enjoy these pages

Perhaps something to make you smile

Or to make you stop a while

A little about me

My name is Anthony Walton.

Born and lived on Tyneside, England, nearly all my life apart from a short time working away. But there is no place like home.

Interests in my life are my family, gardening, folk music and writing poetry and short stories.

I have wrote poetry for some time now but only recently have taken to it a lot more.

I have no particular theme in writing poetry as long as it rhymes.

Some of my poems are sad some humorous but I enjoy writing them.

Music

I can listen to all kinds of music but John Denver is the one I like the most but Folk music comes a very close second with artists like

Christy Moore, Vin garbutt, Jez Lowe, Kate Rusby

Nic Jones, Eleanor Shanley, Coop Bouys & Simpson

to name but a few

I also enjoy Cajun music even though I don't understand French I still like the sound.

GARDENING

I'm no expert at gardening but still like to try and grow my own flowers and veg.

I have even tried my hand at growing some unusual things, I have had success with growing cotton many different varieties of tomato, okra, & cape gooseberry.

My favorite flower is the carnation

ME

In the year nineteen hundred and forty five

Is the year I came alive

I then had to obey the rule

In nineteen hundred and fifty I went to school

~

I suppose my school days did me no harm

But I left home and went to work on a farm

But for farming I wasn't quite made

Returning home I then learnt a trade

~

It was a good trade and very few finer

I worked with wood and became a joiner

Working from building site and shipyard

Nothing was easy the work was quite hard

~

Because I had a young family to keep

Bigger wages in factories I did seek

But I've seen my family grow up fine

Now my eldest grandchild is going on nine

~

All in all it's been a good life

And standing beside me I have a good wife

As yet my life is not through

There are still hundreds of things I want to do
