RANKS

Okay, this page will explain everything you need to know on the ranking system for each pack. To find the current rank positions, you will need to look at the pack borders in the forums. At the forums, your character will have a specific icon for its rankand the icons are different for each pack. Also, the ranks are ordered from highest dominance to lowest.

{Alpha}
Alphas are the appointed leaders of the pack. They are required to possess good leadership skills and a willingness to listen to the members who serve beneath them. Essentially, the Alphas' word is law, and those who defy the will of any leader are appropriately punished depending on the infraction. As with any figure at the top of a hierarchy, an Alpha is expected to be kind, just, and understanding of the needs of the pack. Commonly the they organize group meetings, and it is their main job to assign ranks, accept newcomers, and overall, govern their territory. (Can only be Alpha female and Alpha male)

{Beta}
Beta(s) are second in command, the right-paw wolf to the Alpha. They have many of the same privileges that their higher-ranking pack members claim, though their potency may be diluted. For instance, Beta(s) hold rights to the ability to accept members and assign ranks but only when the Alphas are unable to, and can likewise be overridden by the Alphas.

{Gamma}
The Gamma is the 'war general' of the pack and is responsible for the safety of the entire pack. He/She trains the Delta(s) for battle and leads patrols for for the pack's territory. He/She is permitted to greet strangers but is required to call on an Alpha or Beta for the final Judgment. Also, the Gamma is usually a retired Delta.

{Delta}
The Delta(s) are the best warriors trained under the intensity of the Gammas. They are best all around in strength, speed, intelligence, cunning, and strategy. They are also in charge of training the Tau and Rho warriors.
Rho- These are the warriors that specialize in fighting with brute strength.
Tau- These are the warriors that specialize in fighting with agility.

{Epsilon}
The
Epsilon(s) are the most skilled hunters in the pack. They are in charge and teach the Zeta(s) and Eta(s) the ways of expert hunting. They are masters of both aquatic and dry-land hunting and are keen to where the best hunting spots are. Also, they sometimes work with the Theta(s) to educate the pups in the art of hunting.
Zeta- The Zeta(s) are specifically trained in the hunting aquatic game.

Eta- The Eta(s) are specifically trained in the hunting of dry-land game.

{Theta}
In a nutshell, the Theta(s) are the assigned pup-sitters for the pack. These must be a trusted members of the pack, for they are dealing with the future members of the group. The Theta(s) are expected to teach the pups the way of the wolf, so they must have an affinity for young pups and have a gentle yet firm authority over them. Most importantly, the Theta(s) must be aware of every pup’s location at any given time.

{Iota}
Iotas are the main population of the group. They have no specific or defined occupations, so they are often needed to help with anything and everything pertaining to the pack. Iotas can be seen working alongside higher ranking wolves of the higher ranks, watching, learning, and becoming educated in a myriad of different skills that are vital to survival in life or maybe to become a higher rank in the future.

{Kappa}
The Kappa(s) are the Apprentices/learners and are normally young. They are being trained by higher ranking wolves to take the place of another in the event that they become too sick, too old, or die. Kappa(s) are constantly honing their skills as well as learning new ones so that they are prepared to take any rank which needs to be filled, though usually they specialize in the same field as their trainers.

{Elders}
An Elder is a wolf with great experience and knowledge of wolf packs. In the past they may have held such high ranks as an Alpha and/or Beta. They are sometimes older members who have decided to make the pack their final resting place. An Elder's opinion is greatly respected throughout the pack, being advisor to Alpha(s) and Beta(s) as well as the gamma(s). They are asked to be role models to the pack, adults and pups included, and also to visitors, showing them the way of the pack. They express maturity in their thoughts and actions during serious discussion or conflicts and help out where ever they can, supporting the pack through and through. The Elder lingers in the background when it comes to Pack affairs; they voice their opinions and concerns when they feel it is necessary with the utmost respect to their leaders. Your character is apt for being an elder at 7 years of age.

{Heir}
This isn’t really a rank, but it just states that your wolf is next in line to become a rank and is like a Kappa for a specific rank. Puppies can’t become in line to be an heir until they reach the age of an adolescent. You may only be an heir if you are born into the rank. If you don’t wish for your wolf to be in that rank, then the only other choice is to be an Iota or a Kappa. Also, when it comes to dominance in the Heirs, it is in order of what rank they are the heir of.

{Pups}
Puppies are the smallest, youngest and most vulnerable members of a pack, so they are not expected to do any jobs, though they are required to learn the standard mannerisms such as how to show proper submission to a higher ranking wolf. Once a pup has become at least six months of age (adolescence) they are able to become an heir for their parent’s rank or become a Kappa. But, once they are ten months (a mature adult) then they are able to hold a real rank.

{Omega}
An Omega rank is not something most are proud of. The Omega is, by nature, a pack’s source of comic relief and is the ultimate form of punishment without being banished. They hold no power what-so-ever, and can become the scapegoat for the anger and frustrations of other pack members. They eat last, and are virtually at the very bottom of every list. After becoming an Omega, it is normally very hard for the wolf to regain any stature and it would probably be better to leave the pack and try and join another than to try and become higher in the ranks. But, despite such harsh disregard for this wolf, they still frequently and willingly partake in playtime and aren’t constantly attacked when they come in contact with another pack member.
