What to see in Aveiro, Portugal

Known as the Venice of Portugal, due to the canals that run through town. The valleys are surrounded by mountains and fertile lagoon plains.

In the old quarter of Aveiro, tourists can see the whitewashed houses of the fisherman, and in the early morning, fish caught during the night are auctioned at Mercado do Peixe.

Churches in Aveiro, Portugal

 

The Church of Saint Dominic, now Sé Catedral de Aveiro, was founded in 1423. Remodelling done in 1719 greatly altered its façade.
