STORY
The Shaolin Tournament for Martial Arts...
For ages it was a competition of honor and glory. Noble warriors from around the globe were invited to take part, each seeking to win the title of Grand Champion.
But that was a long time ago... before the tournament was corrupted by the evil demon Shang Tsung, a warrior who took not only the lives of his opponents, but their very souls...
With the aid of his pupil Goro, a hideous half-human dragon, Tsung began a domination of the contest which has lasted for centuries.
Today, 500 years later, the contest begins anew as warriors once again gather to partake in Mortal Kombat.

Reviews

JUSTIN'S REVIEW
GRAPHICS: (8/10) The game is very detailed. The blood looks nice when it's in the air and when it splatters. There is also a lot of character animations, unlike in the gameboy version.
SOUND: (5/10) It is so-so. It can get repetitive since theres only 2 different stages and the hitting noises is almost all the same.
PLAY CONTROL: (6/10) The d-pad can sometimes make you jump instead of just walking forward. The d-pad may also prevent you from using your special moves as easy, since it's sometimes hard.
SATISFACTION: (8/10) Very good game. Has a blood code and everything seems to be balanced out real good, aside from the messy d-pad and kinda-crappy music.

PAUL'S REVIEW
GRAPHICS: (9/10) WOW! The stages actually look like the arcade version! And the characters look great too, except for the red specks on the edges of some.
SOUND: (5/10) Too slow and not mystical like in the arcade version, and there are only two songs.
PLAY CONTROL: (9/10) This game is fast-- much faster than the SNES and GameBoy versions! Animation is slightly choppy though, but not bad.
SATISFACTION: (9/10) Blood! Glorious blood. And actually cool fatalities. If only Kano and Reptile were not missing, and there were at least one more stage and song, this game would be absolutely great!
