Story:
This Trilogy of events comprises the Dark Emperor Shao Kahn's final attempt at taking control of the Earth.

For nine generations, the Mortal Kombat tournament was ruled by the Outworld's finest warrior, Prince Goro. It was agreed that if the Outworld could claim victory in 10 consecutive tournaments, it would then rule the Earth. With the Earth on the brink of destruction, a new generation of warriors gathered and claimed victory.

With victory in hand, warrior monk, Liu Kang, had now become the new Mortal Kombat champion. But his victory was short lived. He and his colleagues were lured to the Outworld to compete in a second tournament.

But Liu Kang and his comrades discovered an evil deception. The tournament was merely a diversion devised by the Dark Emperor, Shao Kahn, to break the rules set forth by the Elder Gods. The Dark Emperor would witness the reincarnation of his former Queen, Sindel. This unholy act gave Shao Kahn the power to step through the dimensional gates to reclaim his Queen and seize control of the Earth. The final attempt is at hand...

Friendship --- Back, Toward, Toward + Punch + Block

GLITCHES (some of them)

  • When characters throw a fireball, there is a very slight pause in the animation while the system plays the sound effect. If two players happen to perform the move at the same time, there is a 50% chance that one of the two will not show up.
  • If you are playing against Rain, and he does his lightning, your projectile will sometimes be cut short in its path, even if the fireball is past the Lightning's striking area.
  • The trails left by Noob's Smoke Ball will sometimes remain on screen longer than it should.
  • You can beat the entire game (even on Very Hard) just by having Jade, Noob, and Rain all rapid fire their fireball motions.
  • Motaro can now be damaged by fireballs. He also cannot jump over them...
  • Raiden's Fatality is missing the exploding body parts. Kidd Thunder also does not stay on screen. He fades as fast as he is created.
  • Noob's Bowling Fatality will sometimes glitch depending on the opponent's location. As the ball hits the middle of the screen, the pins will leap to the same area, animate the strike, and then reappear in the original position upright.
  • Losing opponents do not always follow through on the "defeated" animation in the first round. Sometimes they do not even animate!

Justin's Review
Graphics: (4/10) There are a lot of stages, but since it's only black and white the characters may sometimes blend in with the background. There are flashes of blood, but no splattering and the finishers are too fast and horrible.
Sound: (3/10) There is no music! It doesn't get a 1 or 2, because theres some in-voice words such as "Fight" and "Excellent". The characters also make grunts, but the hit noises are bad.
Play Control: (2/10) It's just crappy. Sometimes becomes hard to connect with the opponent, especially in the air.
Satisfaction: (3/10) The good points to the game: Has a hidden menu, hidden characters, lots of stages, playable bosses, and 4 finishers. Sadly enough, all of that doesn't make up for the no music, crappy graphics, and cruddy play control.
