CPU:
- Main processor is an ARM 9 (running at 67 mHz)
- Cache: 8 KB Instruction Cache, 4 KB Data Cache
- Other processor is an ARM 7 (running at 33 MHz)
Screens:
- The two screens are 256 x 192 RGB each. They can display 262, 144 color.
- Screens are backlit and are a tad bigger than the Game Boy Advance screen, but are smaller than the PSP screen.
Memory/RAM:
- Main memory is 4 MB
- ARM 9 and ARM 7 each have 16 KB
- The internal RAM is 64 KB and the VRAM (Video RAM) is 656 KB.
Graphics and Hardware Engine:
- The geometric transformation can go up to 4 million vertex per second.
- The polygon rate can go up to 12e 0,000 polygon.
- Finally, the pixel fillrate can go up to 30 million pixels per second.
Sound:
- DS has 16 Channel Speaker
- There is a microphone input and has voice recognition
Battery Power and Features:
- Contains a built in rechargeable lithium ion battery pack. No need for AA batteries.
- There is a sleep mode that allows for power saving, but will keep the memory of the game in tact (much like stand by for your pc).
Controls and Design:
- On the bottom right hand side is the D-Pad and bottom left hand side has the A, B, X, and Y buttons.
- Then there are the shoulder L and R buttons along with the start and select buttons at the bottom of the screen with the touch screen over them.
Wireless Capabilities:
- Within a 30 to 100 foot radius, multiple DS’s can play wirelessly without any need for the internet or any cords.
- With a built in 802.11 network card, the DS can connect to the internet if it is near a hotspot.
