Is This The 2010 Saleen Mustang?
With all the news of Saleen Inc. being sold off to MJ Acquisitions earlier this year to Steve Saleen starting his own company SMS Supercars, it has been more difficult to keep up with what is happening. Will there be a Saleen Mustang again? And if so, who will make it?
The answers come with many caveats. Steve Saleen announced at the Mustang 45th Anniversary Celebration that that he intends to build a new Mustang marketed as the SMS 460 and SMS 460X. He unveiled a rendering at the show that outlines the new style. This new car of course is made by Steve Saleen, but not called a Saleen.
But wait there is more. MJ Acquisitions purchased the remaining automobile operations of Saleen Inc. from Hancock Park LLC earlier this year. They announced at the time that they intended to build a Saleen Mustang again as soon as they had the design, engineering and production capability.

This week a photo rendering came across our desk from a confidential source that shows a well developed design rendering for a 2010 Saleen Mustang. While this rendering is not an official release from Saleen Inc. / MJ Acquisitions, we did confirm with the company that they indeed are working on a 2010 Saleen Mustang product line to be released for sale later this year and that this rendering reflects the working design.
This news is of course tentative as the confidential source did not elaborate on model specifics and stated that the rendering itself may not represent the final product. Furthermore there is no detail or committment on when such cars will be available, where they will be manufacturered, or whether the existing Saleen dealer network will sell the cars. But we did hear that there will be two models including an "S-Line ”, which is pictured.
The rear panel features the now trademark concave surround with SALEEN livery. Rear exhaust tips are sculptured into a handsome rear fascia. The side skirts eschew the Ford black plastic look for a much more integrated and tastefull theme. The front fenders also show some add-on "scoops" that while may not be functional, add to the wow-factor of the car. If all this comes to pass, interesting times for Saleen enthusiasts indeed.

When Gone in Sixty Seconds came out in 2000, the Mustang which
held the
lead role as "Eleanor" became an
overnight sensation. You couldn't
throw dead blow hammer without
hearing someone compare a car to
Eleanor. The
brutish fastback
was just
the right mix of vintage and modern.
In that vein, the Obsidian SG-1 is a car
as modern as anything on the road,
but maintaining a throwback look.
Originally a puke green '67 fastback,
the SG-1 is now a study in excess.

Visit the the Obsidian SG1's website for more information and complete specs on the car as well as photos of the build process. You can even make an offer on the car.
Tractorri Lamborghini Mustang
What happens when you combine a brand new V-10 powered Lamborghini Gallardo and a Mustang GT? Umm, well you get the Tractorri Mustang. There were many other cars that made you stop at first glance and drop your jaw because you could not grasp it. But this one made our minds short circuit until we could climb around it, look in and underneath it and figure it out. John Haugh of Cleveland, Ohio built this custom creation starting with a new Lamborghini and a new Mustang. The Tractorri has the full mid-engined all-wheel drive train from the Gallardo which of course includes the exotic 520 hp V-10 engine and sequential shifting transmission.

The visual cues that really give it away is the rear flanks which sport Gallardo taillights and see through venting that show off the hardware. The Lamborghini brake calipers make you scratch your dome as well.
Inside the car, Haugh combined the interiors of the two cars seamlessly with the complete dash assembly from the Lamborghini, premium seating and other treatments that seem right at home with the Mustang door panels.
An Italian car enthusiast who owns a number of Ferraris and Lambirghinis already, Haugh says the car took just under a year to complete and that he plans to drive it regularly. We commend his bold creativity in building a Mustang that stands out from the crowd!

| 2010 Ford Mustang Spotted Again |
Lots of images of the next Ford Mustang have floated around the ‘Net for over a year now. From the Guiargio we saw back at the LA Auto show to some forum-dweller’s dreams, we can be a little more at ease (or as good as it gets right now) with some more spy shots of the new pony car, covered in camo.
It appears as though the car is going to get some mild updates to the front and rear, conducive to what we’ve been hearing. The blanketing camouflage does its job well hiding any other material changes. However, when focusing on the rear of the car, it seems as though there just might be a version of the popular ducktail spoiler everyone raves over.

Ford is dialing up the heat for the Mustang’s 45th Anniversary this week as production of the 2009 Mustang model year is set to begin. One of the small touches that will signal the birthday year is the 45th Anniversary badge that will be installed on most of the 2009 Mustangs. With the exception of special edition models such as the Shelbys, Bullitt, and Warriors In Pink, this new “horse-shoe” and pony emblem will be found on the front fenders .

The 45th Anniversary logo is the first use of a horse-shoe for Mustang’s emblem since the 20th Anniversary in 1984. This is has a more expensive and crafted look thanks to the design prowess of Team Mustang. It is pretty striking and continues the themes that have come before it with the 35th and 40th anniversary emblems that were placed on 1999 and 2004 Mustangs.
Of course it begs the question. Will Ford present us with a limited run “45th Anniversary” Mustang such as they did in 1999 and 2004? In 2004, a 40th Anniversary package came with sand colored stripes and a special metallic red paint scheme. The 1999 35th Anniversary edition Mustang had many special features that included unique interior trim, seating surfaces and exterior treatments. So we can only hope that Ford has an option package coming for 2009, even if it is a combination of stripes and color.
The 2009 model year will be abbreviated however with a refreshed 2010 Mustang due to show up about this time next year. So between now and then the celebration of Mustang’s 45th year is going to get hotter and hotter. Ford is working with the Mustang Club Of America to put on a huge national anniversary show in Birmingham, AL next April. To be held at Barber Motorsports Park, the event is planned to have up to 6000 Mustangs in attendance with several activities planned over the 3-day event.
As in past anniversaries, Mustangs Across America is already busy at planning the cross-country Mustang road trip adventure that brings cars from all over the United States on the road together to attend the big MCA 45th Anniversary Show. If early registration is any indication, the 45th Anniversary Drive is going to be huge, as over 150 cars have already registered for the trip just under a year away.
When you combine these events and the many others planned in the coming year, 2009 is going to be another milestone year for Mustang. Ford is already setting the stage, and the Mustang faithful are lining up for the show.
Below you can see the June edition of Car and Driver Magazine with the All new 2010 Mustang on the front cover.
The car is rumored to have an all new body layout mated to a 6.2 liter v8 engine making an estimated 400 horsepower.
