PONTEFRACT GROUPS TOGETHER

Have just produced the first of a series of books on Pontefract’s heritage. The author is Peter Cookson, chairman of Groups Together.
The first book is Pontefract in the age of steam, The book costs £10, and all proceeds will go towards the production of further books in the series. The first book will be followed by books on the history of religion and on coal mining.

Welcome to the website of Pontefract Groups Together, a local charity which was formed in 2006 to help co-ordinate the work of some 15 voluntary groups and societies in the Historic market Town of Pontefract.

Its main focus is on strengthening knowledge of, and access to, the rich heritage of one of the most important medieval towns in the country.
