Since we get numerous questions on our organization, agenda and platform, the most frequently asked questions or other relevant ones will be answered here.
Q: Where would you put yourself on the political spectrum?
We consider ourselves and our platform to be moderate or centrist. We hold both views that are considered liberal as well as conservative. On a political compass test however, most of our members score moderate libertarian. In general you can describe us as pro-freedom centrist, most closely comparable to moderate libertarians.
Q: How can I support your party?
See ‘how you can help us’
Q: Why starting yet another political party?
We’re not a political party in the classical sense of the word. We’re a voters league (see our goals and strategy). We don’t consider the traditional parties to be our enemies or adversaries but our partners. They have the power and the organizational structure, we have the ideas. Most of our members are even registered voters, democrats as well as conservatives. But also libertarians or even greens. Our goals is not electoral success but implementation of our ideals. Preferable through the traditional parties, since that's seems to be our best chance for success. That’s why we will consider endorsing candidates for public office from existing parties in the near future.
Q: Are you on the ballot? Can I vote for you?
No we’re not on the ballot, neither national or local, for the reasons stated above. This party is not intended to field candidates, we’re a party seeking ideas, not power. In the future however we might be endorsing candidates from other parties that show most compatibility with our platform.
Q: Why should I become a member?
You don’t. You don’t have to be a member to support us. You don’t have to swear an oath or declare your eternal loyalty to us (although that’d be very nice of course).
What’s in for you: If you’re a member than you can become actively involved in our organizational structure and even be candidate as national chairman. You can vote and take part in all party conventions. What’s in for us: by you becoming a member, we can expand our member base and enhance our credibility on the political playing field. The more members we have, the more appealing it gets for potential candidates and existing parties to petition for our support and endorsement and the more likely it is that we can implement our ideas.
Q: What’s with the name ‘Diamond Party’?
What about it? We think it sounds good and solid, with a sense of recognition but at the same unique. We just like it. The Diamond Party (DM).
Q: I intend on running for local office in my community. Can you help me?
Sure, if your personal platform seems to have a great deal in common with ours and if you’re willing to fight with us for the same causes, then we can endorse you as our candidate, or you can use our party facilities. Just mail us.
