Pokemon's next adventure continue in Diamond & Pearl

Diamond and Pearl take place in a new region named Shino, and a new starter town named Futaba Town. Little else has been mentioned about the region, but there have been several instances about new pokemon, pokedex add-ons, and new changes to expect in the new game. These are sure to give pokemon fans something to expect when the game comes out.

New Pokemon

There are nine new pokemon that have been confirmed to be in the new pokemon game. They are: Munchlax, Lucario, Bonsly, Mime Jr., Weavile, Manafi, Perappu, Buizeru, and Tamanta. Munchlax is believed to be a baby evolution of Snorlax, Bonsly a baby evolution of Sudowoodo, Mime Jr. a baby evolution of Mr. Mime, and Tamanta a baby evolution of Mantine. Weavile however is believed to be the first evolution of Sneasel. You can view more about these pokemon on the New Pokemon Page. Click on the link at the bottom of the page to jump to it.

Pokedex Add-ons

The new Pokedex includes many new features, including features that utilizes the Nintendo DS's Touch Screen. You can use the stylus and touch screen to easily scroll through the list of pokemon in your pokedex and choose a pokemon. This makes it easy for when you want to quickly look for a pokemon. You now also have five ways to view information on a pokemon in the pokedex, Dex-Entry, which gives you information on your pokemon, Area, which tells you where in the region of Shino that your pokemon can be caught, Cry, which allows you to hear your pokemons cry, a new feature in cry allows you to change the pitch and speed of the cry, Height Comparison, which compares your pokemon's height to your height, now you can actually input your actual height, and finally Weight Comparison, where you can input your weight and compare your pokemon's weight to yours. These are all neat new entries that will give you a real sense of your pokemon.

Other Changes Time
Time has been a constant feature since the Silver and Gold Generation of Pokemon, but in Diamond and Pearl, it is being more utilized. The time uses the time set in the DS Clock, which confirms that it is the correct time at the beginning of the game. There are also going to be specific time based events. This means that you can only do something at a certain time each day.

The Poketch
Poketch is a new tool that was much like the PokeNav in Ruby & Sapphire. The Poketch allows you to do several things. The clock is stored in it so you will use it for time based events. Another new feature is the new type chart. You input your pokemon's type and your opponent's type and see how your attacks affect your oppenent and vice-versa. This comes in handy when preparing for a gym battle. The next new feature is the Breeding Center Look-Up Option. It shows you what pokemon you have stored in the breeding center, how many levels they each have gone up, and if they have laid an egg or not. This is a must have for people that spend a lot of time around the Daycare. The last new feature is the Calculator. There isn't really much of anything special about it. It adds, it subtracts, it makes a Pokemon Cry when you use it so it isn't wise to use in class.

Some more news has come through Famitsu. Be warned as this contains spoilers for the start of the game so look away otherwise:

* At the start of the game, you see a newscast about a Red Gyarados sighting. Thats right, the Red Gyarados makes a return. With the TV Report in mind, you go to your Rival's house and head to Trust Lake to try and see it. However when you get there you are attacked by Mukkuru and get to pick your starter Pokémon to fight them off. Your Rival gets the Pokémon that is strong against yours
* You then go to Futaba to get the Running Shoes from your mother and head to Masago Town where the Professor gives you the Pokémon you chose and the Pokédex
* You meet your other rival, Kouki if its Male or Hikari if its Female, who shows you around Masago Town. Afterwards you go to Futaba Town to get the Adventure Note (Unknown what that does) from your Mother and a parcel for your rival to be delivered to him
* On Route 202, Kouki/Hikari will be there to meet you and show you how to capture Pokémon. They give you the 5 extra Pokéballs and they have the Starter Pokémon that is weak to yours
* In Kotobuki City, you get the Town Map from your rival. Kotobuki has loads of areas to explore including a TV Station, Trainer School and the Pokétch Company. You have to answer questions correctly from 3 people around the City to get the Pokétch.

That is the map of Shinou
