New things going on

12-12-09 I posted yesterday in RGP about my thoughts on how I felt RGP and pinball went together like Peanut Butter and Jelly. I really think that my longevity in this hobbie really depends on the good people in that group. My birthday is coming up Sunday I have been taking this week off for a few years now just to reevauluate life. I dont go any where and try doing something besides travel. This week I have been working and playing in the gameroom. I have trouble shooted and fixed my Shadow which I have had a year now. I also have fixed my Twlight Zone proximity sensor error 26. Anyone with owns either of these games know that both games have some real common problems. I have also had a chance to get one of our none working Laptops fixed. I am using it in the gameroom for sound affects. I have some files that I got from Andy Hofles web site http://arcade.hofle.com . He created sound files from mame that you can ad to your gameroom to create a atmosphere of the classic arcade. If your intersted go to his web site and check them out.

11-10-09 Today I brought home my newest addition Safecracker. I have been working getting one of these since I played it at the Pinball Hall of Fame.  I took some pictures of the wings and hardware that where still unopened by the operater(pictures in projects tab). They had them in a corner of the shop. The Topper also was not installed so that is pretty new looking. All the manuals and flyer where also included. The actaual game I will shop out and get some nice pictures on here at that point.

11-6-09 I am looking for a working and tested laser player PIONEER PR-8210 This player will work with either a mach 3 or Us vs Them.. Thanks

10-24-09 My vacation is almost over and I had a chance to get some things done in the gameroom.. You can check out the video on my home page under videos. I hung all my signs and other things I have picked up.. The game room is now well lite with neon signs amd all the neons signs. I also replaced the flood lights that where in the cieling with black lights...The over all look now is its really looking like a true gameroom...

10-20-09 This has been a good month for the first time I got to go to the chicago pinball convention. We went on the 17th 18th and 19th of October. We stayed at the Weston hotel which was very nice. Next year I am hoping to do more of the seminars this year I just wanted to scope things out. I had tried setting up a pinball purchase when I got down there for a Pinbot, That didnt work out but I did haul back some very nice neon gameroom signs . I also had a chance to hook up with the editor of gameroom magazine Kevin Steel I ended up purchasing some things from him. I think the thing that made this convention a real good time was that fact that I  hooked up with some people that I have been dealing with over the last few years.

09-17-09 I have had some time with my Us vs Them project the last few weeks. After picking up a Pioneer lv 8000 LD and a Laser Con converter card to allow me to use this newer player in my project. I was able today to play the game. The Laser com card had not been used in the Us Vs Them or not proven to work as of this time. So this was all a gamble. I emded up having to shut the memory off on my player to allow for proper play.  I am still having issues with the time delay that the laser player is having with the pcb in the cabinet. Images are about 5 seconds off. Example when going through the woods on level 3 you might be dodging the trees instead you hit them. I have posted in the DLP web site and emailed the hardware designer for lasercom on possible solutions. I tried googling for information but couldent find anything..I am hoping with the work I am going through and this website will help others

09-04-09 Its been a few months since my last entry. I have been busy at work and havent had extra time just to dedicate to the hobbie. That doesnt mean that I havent brought in new games. Since the last entry I have aquired a Demolition Man pinball machine, a second Us Vs Then cabinet and a new old stock conversion kit for the Us vs Them. Not to bad but the garage is filling up. Demolition Man just needed a shop out and the driver board had a burned up turminal for the illumination. The Us vs Them is another story.....The  whole story will be found under the new projects link because this project seems to be a ongoing. Maybe this will help someone else that may decide to take on these laser disk games. Luckly for Us Vs Them I have a special place in my heart other wise this project would have been in the middle of a bond fire...

05-15-09  Well its been almost a month since my last entery. I came a cross a upright Pole Position in Appleton about a week or so ago. The game was plugged in after sitting for I a long time. Game works a 100% just needs a little cleaning. My Holly Grail of video games is coming home in a few weeks after 3 years of searching for this game. The name of it is Us vs Them. This is a Laser game from Mylster which was also Gotlieb. This game was a conversion kit for the game MACH 3 released in 1984. I am very excited about this new addition and will post pictures when game arives...

04-15-09 My Genie Pinball machine was acting up with its displays. One minute they be brite the next dim some like the match and credit were not working at all. I figured the problem to be in my power supply. This power supply happens to be a Gotlieb system 1 power supply. They are remaking these new and my decision was to instead of having this one fixed was to purchase a new one. I went with a Rotten Dog replacement. Yes that is a name of a company. The item showed up in two days and was very easy to convert. Game is up and working like a millions bucks.

04-02-09 I finally got the Harlem Globetroters working today. After having almost given up I decided calling in help from a near by coin op.. The problem was that there where two coils not firing. One was the kick out the other the right pop bumper. After months of chasing my tail I went back and did some research on the internet and found a articale that lead me back to the J1 connectoron the MPU. The connector that goes onto the mpu was where the problem was one of the wire connectors broke in two. I thought I had look at this pretty close a few months back and didnt notice the problem. The pin is now working about 98% of the way with a few display issues. I believe that is just loose wires again.

03-15-09 Finished my Track & Field project pictures are located under projects link. This cabinet was brought back to is original glory. I stripped all old paint and repainted with track and field colors. I used mame for its operating system since all wiring harness was missing. Control panel had to be cut for the track & field game. Side art and control panel overlays where purchased from Phionex Arcade. New back door was made since old one was missing.. End results for you to determine.

01-30-09 Today I reorganized the gameroom made some sence out of the lay out. I also snapped a bunch of pictures for the gameroom to update my new arrivals. Also listed pictures of the two new EMs in my projects link. Thanks for looking.

1-26-09  Purchased two new EMs form a local person. A 1970 Gotlieb Card Trix and a 1977 Gotlieb Lucky Hand. Both games in great shape for there year. I will clean them up and post pictures on my new projects link.

01-01-09 My Gameroom was chosen for the gameroom of the month from Gameroom magazine. Kim my other half decided to be witty and write to Kevin with out me knowing. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out it was in Januarys issue.. I guess it was a funny article from the none collectors view point.. I have been told by my fellow collectors its time for her to go to make room for more games. So Bud and Fern if you are reading this be prepared.

11-10-08  Tempest project completed using Mame as the operating system.. Check out the pictures on my project link along with a brief discription on what had to be done.

The Collection finally together..

Click on slide show to open whole album at once..There are 78 photos to view. I tried getting the fronts of most of the games to give you the idea of what each game was. Thanks for looking

My passion for classic gaming

I am dedicating this website to all the arcades that allowed me to be a kid along with my brother Sean and my father who have passed away from their battles with Cancer. I look back at how the arcade has been a part of my life. This is where I grew up as a teenager. I was always fascinated by the new games that came out and the challenges that just a quarter could buy. My parents owned a convenience store though most of my teenage years. This is where I was introduced to the most current video games of the 80's. My favorites where Time Pilot, Mario brothers and the Mr Do titles. My fascination in pinball started in my early high school years with Pinbot. I remember getting my licences and driving into Appleton where My friends and I would go to a place called Pocket Change in the Valley Fair mall. Pocket Change was a place not only for my friends and I but my brothers and sisters to spend time together. My little brother Sean and I probably spent the most time together in one arcade or the other. One of our last times together before his passing was at a arcade having fun. I have been collecting for about 10 years with my first few years messing with a arcade simulator called Mame. This got me caught back into the classic arcade playing. I received my first chance at owning a Space invaders from my brother Richard. This game was in a garage of a house he bought. I worked off payment helping him work on that house. The Space Invaders was not working and I new nothing about arcade games at the time. I some how found my way into a newsgroup where people talked about nothing but classic video games. What a dream nothing but buying and selling and questions answered on technical help. This got me hooked and the rest is history. I have now 21 video games and 26 pinball machines in my collection. This and all of the arcade related items I have found will be part of my gameroom. I was fortunate that when my favorite arcade Pocket Change had closed down Barb the owner gave me a call. I had purchased her Medieval Madness pinball machine from her and gave her my name in case she had anything else to sell.   Well she ended up closing because the Mall was getting ripped down and offered me all the signs and any of the equipment that I wanted..I took what I had room for.  I have met many great people in this hobby who have the same love I do for this craziness... My current plans will be to build a arcade that will be attached to the house.  I will take pictures and post them to this web sight as things are completed.  I would love to here input from visitors of this website and love to here story's you have.  You can post your story in my guest book for others to see or email me privately. I would like to here about your experiences of getting into the hobby or your love of the coin-op business.

 Thanks for visiting...
