Here's some simple vocabulary you might find handy when reading the transcripts. You can get most of the words by context, but just in case....

arigatou - thanks

arigatou gozaimashita - thank you very much [very formal]

arigatou gozaimasu - thank you

-chan - name suffix for a young girl or a very familiar male

desu - [this is a particle; when it follows something, it's the equivalent of "is"]

domo arigatou - thank you very much [formal]

gochisou sama - thanks for the food

gomen - sorry

gomen nasai - I am very sorry

gomen ne - I'm sorry

hai - yes

hajimemashite - pleased to meet you

iee - no

itadakimasu - let's eat

kanrinin - landlady

kawaii - cute

kon ban wa - good evening

konnichiwa - good afternoon

kowai - scary

-kun - name suffix for a young boy or a female with male qualities

moshi-moshi - greeting (usually used on the phone)

nandemonai - nothing

nani - what

ohayo - good morning [informal]

ohayo gozaimasu - good morning [polite]

okaerinasai - welcome back [polite]

okaerini - welcome back [informal]

onegai - please [informal]

onegaishimasu - please (do) [polite]

oyasumi - good night [informal]

oyasuminasai - good night [formal]

ramen - noodles

-sama - name suffix for someone of higher social status

-san - name suffix for someone of greater or equal age; genderless; considered polite

-senpai - name suffix for someone at a higher level of education or life experience (also used without a name)

-sensei - name suffix for teachers and doctors (also used without a name)

tadaima - I'm back

tenchou - manager

yorokonde - gladly / with pleasure
