This Holophane 320 top-entry lantern was incredibly lucky to survive to the present day, and it outlived the factory it lit by a good 15 years. The large CU concrete column was one of many which lit the roads of the old Tecalemit factory since at least the 1950s, until its demolition in the 1980s. A business park was built on the site in the early 1990s, but this column stayed in place right on the perimeter beside the A38 interchange.
Sadly in late 2005 the column was suddenly cut off above the base section, and the lantern was gone. This was presumably done by the car dealership to prevent bits of concrete bracket falling onto cars below.
