Plymouth City Private Installations

Once a common sight on side roads in Plymouth, 5m Revo fluted steel columns are now extinct, save for these 3 columns. They can be found in a pub beer garden. They would originally have had some sort of top entry lantern fitted- possibly a GEC Brookvale. These examples may have had other swan necks fitted before they were placed in the garden. The lanterns are now modern SON Davis GR70s and a Thorn Beta 79. The lanterns were lit until a year or two ago, and now one swan neck has gone completely as the top of the column has rusted and fallen away. The column by the carpark shows that the original hinged door is now long gone, but it also reveals the base of an old Sangamo timeswitch; presumably what controlled the old top entry lantern.
