Plymouth City Mercury Lighting

Derriford- an incredible survivor can be found adjacent to a footpath. The lantern is a GEC Z5590, and it's mounted upon an old Cohen steel column. It appears to be an old council column, which lit the footpath, prior to new hockey stick columns being installed. As these have been in place a long time now it must have been abandoned for a good 30 years. It is not known if the column is still live, or what remains in the base compartment, but the lamp will definitely be an MBF/U of 80 or 125w. There is a lot of upheaval in the area currently with the building of a new entranceway, which is how the column came to be spotted, but sadly this may well force its removal.
