Plymouth City Mercury Lighting

Weston Mill- An 80W MBF/U Thorn Beta 7 lantern fitted to a 6m Fabrikat steel column. Control is by a Horstmann KMK2A part-night time-clock in the column base. This dates the lantern to 1972, which would make it original. Another 2 Mercury examples remained, but were removed in a spell of works in December 2004. There is now only this one MBF/U example, and one SON-converted example. Of the hundreds that were found in the city, all but these 2 have been replaced by modern SON lanterns.

Update- 29th April 2005: this lantern has now been removed. Luckily it was saved for my collection.
