Once a common sight around the villages of Devon, the GEC Z8691 is now a rare sight. This example in Yelverton runs a 70w SON-I lamp now, but would have been converted from an MBF/U lamp in years past. The lantern is controlled by a photocell on the wood pole adjacent to the bracket.
Update- Summer 2007: the Z8691 has now been replaced by an Urbis ZXU1. This new lantern is controlled by an integral minicell.
