Andy - vocals, guitar "I wanted to call the band Small Town Rivals, But I was out voted"
Judas - guitar "Or you could give her the Judas shocker ... FIVE IN THE STINK!"
Ryan - bass "Yea, I used to have to smash it with a text book to make it work"
Aaron - drums "Bleep bleep come in Dave"
1999. That's when it all started. Andy Jordan and Ryan Kienle were in the same music class in high school. And one day Andy was over at Ryan's house and like normal teenagers they got some beers and as Andy said "We're gonna get Fizzlewinked tonight!" BAM! That's when the magic started. The Band was formed with the memberships of: Andy - Vocals & Guitar, Ryan - Bass, PJ - Guitar, and Jon - Drums. They release a few demo's (Runaway, Girlfriend ... etc) and then finally release a very good D.I.Y pop punk cd. Who's Listening. Release this CD led the guys to actually play with some bands on Drive-Thru Records. They played so many shows and actually changed drummers along the way.
September 2001, "Fizzlewink" plays a local show, they have add another Guitarist and a new drummer. They called them selves The Getaway. They unveiled some new songs and started to play shows every weekend. At one show in Connecticut only about 30 kids showed up but they still play an amazing set and play a new song, which turned out to be my favorite, Ex Marks The Spot. They started to get more recognized and made a following around the Poughkeepsie area. Rumors flew that they were signing to DTR. But, they were just that rumors. The Getaway had more songs under their belt and they had a lot of friends in the music industry and that helped them to get known nation wide. They flew out to California to play in a DTR show case with Rx Bandits. According to the guys the set sucked. But, I don't believe that. They were set to release the first Getaway ep. If All Else Fails. There was so much buzz around this band. They never did any huge tours, only had 2 songs release on mp3.com. They then release Ex Marks The Spot on mp3.com. Seeing as this is my favorite song by them, I do the best thing I can. I post it as news on Punknews.org. The guys made a huge explosion and actually made it to Number 1 on mp3.com for 6 days. That's when you enter Mr.Brett
Everyone knows this part. Andy gets an e-mail from some one who calls him self Brett Gurewitz and says how amazed he is with the band. And Andy being the nice boy he is, thought it was a mean joke and people shouldn't do that. Well, it turned out to be Mr.Brett Gurewitz indeed. He actually came to a show in Poughkeepsie and I got to meet him (yay). That's when The Getaway got their big break! They flew out to California and signed their big (I do mean big, I saw it at Ryan's house, the thing was like 1000 pages thick) contract. There was one small set back. The OTHER Getaway. There was/is another band in Canada which has the bands name, so what to do?! The guys hold a "Name the getaway" contest. I don't know if any one won it. But, they came back with new demo's (which were amazing) and a new name MATCHBOOK ROMANCE. The last two shows I saw before I left were With Allister/Goldfinger and Allister/Senses Fail.
April 8, 2003. West For Wishing comes out. And unfortunatly at that time I Was currently in Boot Camp and Fort Jackson, SC. When I finally got my hands on the CD I was blown away. At this point the guys came up on compilations such as Warped Tour 2003, Atticus Draggin the Lake II, and punk-o-rama 8. Matchbook Romance is and will be one of the biggest bands in late 2003 and 2004. Stories and Alibis will be out on September 23rd. Everyone must buy it!

Fizzlewink:
Fizzlewink - Will play punk rock for food. (First Fizzlewink Site)
Fizzlewink.com - Who's Listening? (First semi-professional site. Later it was rumored to be the home of "The Anti-Getaway" faction)
The Getaway:
The Getawau - (The main site for the getaway. Under this name they gained a lot of fans and started to blow up. I made my first site for them. Soon after I was asked to be the webmaster of the official site. But, then they got signed to Epitaph. Also they actually had an ANTI-GETAWAY group spamming their board.)
