Who the hell are you?
Well the name is Dante Cyril Nelson Ofori, 18, also known as Original Scars aka bastard son to a thousand gangsters to the rappers on the street, with a dream that millions of other dreamers dream to past the thug game. That’s what gives me the drive to continue lyrically dispersing and song writing which I have been for the past nine years but only started going studio to produce more organized music in March 2004.
Skeen, skeen what sides are you from?
I am from Southwark which is in South London were I was born and raised and made my hustle in the area and beyond. My family and family friends also live in the area were I also completed primary and secondary education but now go college in the Richmond borough.
So what type of artist would you call yourself and what you specialize in?
I would call myself a lyrical distributor who speaks about what I see or what happens to friends and family, which include love, hate, prejudice and inequality among races worldwide, which happens everyday and effects most people from ethnic backgrounds. I would not say I was only a rapper because I write songs for female and male artist, I am also looking to write a mini street novel giving outsiders an insight into the life a teen lives in London trying to aim for there dreams with social pressure acting as an obstacle but the will be in a couple of years time when I have grown up a bit more with more cash in the pockets.
Who and what influenced into the dirty game?
(Laughter) Blame my older cousin influenced me into taking an interest into music as she had a varied collection of different music genres from Salsa music to R&B, which I loved listening to when she went out. When I used to hear my cousin sing I would add in my own words and continue to sing the song cause I did not no the words and I developed from there into writing my own stuff. I was also influenced by great artist like Aaliyah, Mase, Musiq and Big Pun who all have a unique way of expressing their words with attitude and different types of energy. When I was young I often use to get frustrated by things I could not do much about so I decide to express my thoughts and feelings onto paper which actually made me feel better and enhance my view on life in general.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am hoping continue working in various studios working with various producers and artists including Nikkie S, LMS, DMP Recordings and Mash Force, Sly Chick productions and even link up with Jacque from S- club juniors in due time to produce a album at a later date called from boy to the next level up. Right now I write lyrics everyday and trying to improve on my rapping techniques so I can bring out a selection of singles from various artist I am working with. I am just trying to do so much because tomorrow is not promised and nobody no what the future holds so.
So what makes different you from the next brother?
I feel my style is different because I don’t just rap or song write I also write poems and mini scripts so I feel I am able to translate situations in life in many different ways. I am also in no rush to promote my music as I feel it would not bring out my best material. I have got so much to learn in the music industry but I have great individuals backing me including Mike, James and Fitz from the Bellenden music project who I have know for a few months but I taught me so much and I would like to thank them as they have also worked with artist like Terry Walker and Faithless and LMS.
What do you hope to do in the next five years?
In the next 5 years I hope to be doing what I love and having my music heard by everybody who can relate to what I say in the songs, poems and mini novels that I hope to accomplish through the blessings of God.
I AM OUT
