| ROCHDALE LIGHT ORCHESTRA Founded in April 2008 by a group of players led by composer/conductor Graham Marshall, the RLO brings together amateur orchestral musicians dedicated to rehearsing and performing light-hearted music of all ages. For further details email info@pizzicatoman.com.

The venue is St. Martin's Church Hall, Vicarage Road North, Castleton, Rochdale, which is just off the A664 a hundred yards south of the traffic lights in the centre of the village.
We are now formally established, and hope to be properly registered as a member of Making Music (the National Association of Music Societies) very soon. Subscription rates will be kept to a minimum, but members of the Society/Orchestra will naturally be expected to contribute to the cost of housing and maintaining the orchestra.
Concert performances in venues throughout Rochdale and elsewhere are envisaged for the future with a repertory drawn from centuries of music written to please the ear and warm the heart.
In the near future we shall tackle some of the familiar works of the American composer LEROY ANDERSON who was born 100 years ago this October, and our own English composers RALPH VAUGHAN WILLIAMS who died in 1958.Then we shall turn our attention to HADYN WOOD whose 100th Birthday anniversary will be celebrated in 2009..
Graham is a music graduate of Durham University, where he conducted performances of operettas with the Durham Colleges Light Opera Group and a season of symphony concerts with the Durham Colleges Orchestra. He is a composer of music of various genres, and performances of his music have taken place in Florida and Canada as well as locally in the Greater Manchester area, Liverpool and elsewhere in the United Kingdom.
Players will be expected to have a fair competence, and be ready to practise and improve even more as the orchestra grows and develops.
