Disable UAC:
  1. Click on the Start Button and go to the Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel search box, search for for disable uac.
  3. Click on Turn User Account Control (UAC) on or off.
  4. Uncheck Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer.
  5. Hit OK.

  1. Open up Regedit.
  2. Navigate thru HKEY_CURRENT_USER, Software, Microsoft and Windows.
  3. Create a new KEY called DWM if it is not aleady there.
  4. Create a new DWORD called AnimationsShiftKey inside the DWM folder.
  5. Set the new DWORD that you just created to a value of 1.
  6. Open up the command prompt and type net stop uxsms. Then type net start uxsms.
      When the Aero effects happen you can hold down Shift to make them longer. Try it with minimizing/maximizing windows and Flip 3d.

How to Adjust Vista Glass Window Border:

1. Right click on your desktop and select Personalize.

2. Click on Windows Color and Appearance.

3. Click on Open Classic Appearance Properties

4. Click Advanced.

5. Select Border Padding in the Items drop down box.

6. Increase or decrease border size. (The default size is 4).


Enable Magnifier
  1. Click on the start button.
  2. Type in magnifier and hit Enter.
Disable Features
  1. Click on the Start Button and select Control Panel.
  2. Under Programs click Uninstall a program .
  3. On the side menu, click on Turn Windows features on or off .
  4. Scroll through the list as shown below and remove the check from any feature you do not want installed.
  5. Click OK when you are finished making your changes.  The features will now be uninstalled.

Make Maximized Windows & Taskbar Transparent

Throughout the beta process Microsoft received a lot of feedback on how the taskbar and the window border changes to black when you maximize a window.  Before the final release they altered the behavior slightly so the window and taskbar would still turn opaque and black, but with a very slight tint of color that matches the color of your glass. This change satisfied some users but left others still in the dark. Many users wanted a maximized window to remain transparent as well as the taskbar. Once the final build of Windows Vista shipped, all hope was gone that we would have transparent maximized windows, until today. 

Let's get started:

  1. Visit Codec Gazer.com (http://www.codegazer.com/vistaglazz.htm) and download the latest version of VistaGlazz.
  2. Start up your copy of VistaGlazz.
  3. Click I agree on the first screen.
  4. Click the icon on the left and then hit Patch files. 
  5. Reboot your computer. 
  6. Start up VistaGlazz again, this time click on the middle icon and hit Patch Style.  The DWM will restart and everything will finally be transparent.

Enable or Disable the Administrator Account
  1. Open the Start Menu and type cmd.

  3. If you want to enable the Administrator account on the Welcome Screen, type Net user administrator /active:yes. If you want to disable it, type Net user administrator /active:no.
Disable Aero Features

What if there are some things you like about Aero, such as window animations, but others you don't like, such as transparent windows? You can turn off some Aero features to speed up your PC but leave on others that you like using.

To do it, select Start > Computer > System Properties. Click Advanced system settings, then, in the Performance section, click the Settings button. A screen like the one shown below appears. Select Custom, uncheck those features that you want to turn off, then click OK.
