Vliegbasis Soesterberg
Eind dit jaar (2008) wordt de vliegbasis Soesterberg gesloten. Dit vanwege bezuinigingen bij de Koninklijke Luchtmacht. Dan zal onze eigen luchtmacht 15 jaar nadat de Amerikaanse Luchtmacht dat al had gedaan, zich vrijwel geheel terugtrekken van de bakermat van de Nederlandse militaire luchtvaart. Hiermee wordt een periode van bijna 100 jaar aanwezigheid afgesloten.
Deze website beoogt een bijdrage te leveren om deze vliegbasis in herinnering te houden. Het eerste deel Soesterberg site 1 in de vorm van een fotoreportage van diverse vliegtuigtypes die vanaf de jaren '80 van de vorige eeuw op de vliegbasis zijn neergestreken.
Deel twee Soesterberg site 2 van deze website bevat nog meer foto's van vliegtuigen op Soesterberg, zowel in zwart/wit alsook vliegtuigen die in het Militaire Luchtvaart Museum te zien zijn. Daarnaast geeft het een impressie van de vliegbasis zelf.
Deel drie Soviet Aircraft is een toegift voor diegenen die van Russische vliegtuigen houden.
Soesterberg Air Base
In 2009 Soesterberg Air Base will close its gates for good. This due to budget cuts in the Dutch Air Force. So fifteen years after the United States Air Force has left the air base, the presence of the Koninklijke Luchtmacht will end as well (almost). This after nearly 100 years of flying activities. Since Soesterberg is the cradle of Dutch military aviation this marks the end of an era.
This website is meant to keep the memory of this airbase alive. The first part Soesterberg site 1 gives a photo report of the different types of aircraft that touched down on the air base since the eighties of the previous century.
Part two of this site Soesterberg site 2 contains more pictures of aircraft at Soesterberg, in black and white as well as the aircraft that can be found in the Military Aviation Museum. Besides that, part two gives an impression of the air base itself.
Part three Soviet Aircraft is for those of you who love Russian built aircraft.
