Fellow
Students,
To be a
Physician Assistant is to be a pioneer. To have chosen this profession speaks
volumes about a person’s initiative and tenacity to complete a challenging
program quickly, and demonstrates a humble compassion and desire to meet the
needs of others. Inside of such a unique combination, it is not surprising to
find that many of us share an interest in serving internationally. However,
like much of our profession, it will be up to us to lead the way and create a
network that will effectively connect Physician Assistants working
internationally with those of us who are interested in joining them. PAGH is a
relatively new organization, and as such, our goal of creating a network of PAs
and PA students serving internationally will require the input and
collaboration of talented students and providers who share this common vision.
If you are a student who has served or rotated internationally, please join our
network by filling out the membership application.
Some of
the student goals for the 2008-2009 year are as follows:
*To
assemble a list of schools with international rotations. Please let us know if
you have been, or are scheduled, to rotate internationally.
*To
petition SAAAPA, PAEA, and ARC-PA to work together to make it easier for PA
students to rotate internationally by forming universal rotation guidelines.
*To make
PA students aware of international professional positions open to them upon
graduation.
*To
connect pre-PA students and current PA students with a desire to rotate overseas
with programs that offer international rotations.
Please
contact me with any questions you may have or to become a student volunteer for
PAGH. There has never been a time when the world needed our profession more. I
look forward to working together with you in the hopes that we can make it
easier to fulfill some of their most basic needs.
Good luck
with the remainder of your didactic or rotation year!
