Quiz bowl involves two opposing teams with five members on each team. The reader reads a tossup question and if a player buzzes in first and answers it correctly, that team gets the point. If that player gets it wrong, then the other team has a chance to answer the question.
Questions involve material from areas such as literature, history, science, mathematics, fine arts, pop culture, current events, and other knowledge students should've learned while in high school. There is also a worksheet round in which the team works together to answer the clues whose answers all begin with the same letter.
