Stock Photography Resources

Online Resources for the Stock Photographer

This Website has been designed to organize all the useful stock information I have collected over the past year.  It contains many online links that I have found helpful in learning about Stock Photography.  Hopefully some of this info will be helpful to beginners and serve as a reference as well.

First I will start off with the Micro Stock Agenc
ies that I have been working with and submitting to.

MICROSTOCK AGENCIES

FOTOLIA  was the first Micro Stock agency that I joined.  Their submission standards have become more strict in the past year but they are still one of the easier ones that accept images. My first sale and my first Extended License sale was with Fotolia.

BIGSTOCKPHOTO   was also one of the earlier sites I joined.  My acceptance rate with them is very high and they offer helpful tips when they find an unacceptable image.  I have found the customer service on this site to be very good also.

DREAMSTIME   is a selective site that also gives helpful tips when they do not accept images.  My acceptance ratio with them has been improving, but they are fairly strict with submitted images.

STOCKXPERT   has become very selective in the past couple of months.  They have very specific images they are looking for, but I keep submitting as the sales pay well when they do come.

SHUTTERSTOCK   is one of the top earning microstock sites.  They are very selective and are hard to get images approved.  Images that get accepted sell very well on this site.

ISTOCKPHOTO   is the hardest site to get into.  They are extremely selective and I have only been with  them a couple of weeks for this reason.  For most photographers they are their top earning site, but I find the sales to be really slow.  Perhaps as my portfolio increases I will see this change.

LUCKY OLIVER
is a new site that I have signed up with.  Their upload process is easy, but since my images are still in review I cannot comment about how strict they are with submitted images.  Updates will be coming.

NON-MICRO (MACRO) STOCK AGENCIES

FEATUREPICS   is a new site with a unique take on this new stock photo business.  They offer high percentages to the authors.  The sellers also set their own prices for their images.  The customer service on this site is the best  - they are very responsive and receptive to the ideas of their contributors.  The concepts that this site offers makes them my all-time favorite.

IMAGE VORTEX   is an extremely hard site to get images approved.  They are more geared towards the creative stock images, and the prices start at $30.   They are very selective, but commissions are good on the sales.

SHUTTERPOINT    is a subscription based site where you can offer your images for sale at the prices that you set.  The commissions are good and the community is helpful.  There is no approval process.

IMAGEKIND   is a new concept for selling fine art and fine photographs.  It isn't geared towards the stock photographer.  Buyers purchase the artwork as prints that are processed through Imagekind, then they have the option of choosing from a very large selection of frames and mats to compliment the art if they prefer.   This is new website with a unique idea.
