Phone (폰, Pon) is a 2002 South Korean horror film directed by Ahn Byeong-ki and starring Ha Ji-Won and Kim Yu-Mi. It is partly based on a popular South Korean urban legend about a high school student who commits suicide and haunts her school, playing piano when nobody is around.
In the opening sequence we see a young woman running, frightened, into an elevator; her cellphone rings and she screams to be let alone. A ghost apparently kills her.
We next see a young journalist whose editor warns her to start keeping a low profile after she receives threats for publishing a major story exposing human trafficking. Though she purchases a cellphone with an unregistered phone number, she begins to receive mysterious and disturbing phone calls, and a man begins to harass her while she is driving.
She begins to suspect that a trapped woman may be trying to communicate with her and begins to investigate. She follows a trail of clues that uncovers the disappearance of a high school girl who had been involved in a love affair with a married man. Landmark C INEMA S Vic Theatre editstar.
