Phoenix Equine Rescue

       Our Residents

Here at the Farm...

We have a few horses that have come into our lives , that we cant see anywhere else but with us. This may be because they've lead rough, hard lives and deserve a retirement home. Where they don’t need to worry about working anymore… Or its just because they’ve grown on us

Luna......

Luna’s a 16 year old registered Spotted Saddle Horse. She came from the south and was pretty much been a broodmare all her life. But for the past six years, she’s been our pasture poof. She’s currently going into training in the spring for a trail riding prospect.

Summer....

This is Summer, she came up from the south with Luna. She is also a registered Spotted Saddle Horse and about 20 years old. She’s spent most of her life as a broodmare also and has spent the last six years enjoying being a pasture pal. Although Summer’s been with us for six years, she still does not like human touch, she'll stand it if you have her on lead, but you can tell she’s had a rough beginning. She MAY go into training in the spring, we will see how she takes to basic ground work.

Bill ( a.k.a Billy Baby).....

Bill was a "purchased rescue". We responded to an ad advertising him as a field horse or a logging horse. He was supposed to be about 14and ready to go work in the woods ( nothing hard Ill let you know, just pulling out one or two small stuff logs) When we went to take a look at him, he was bones! Poor boy looked so sad, and was skin and bones.. his then owner said something about how he was normal, and his other horses were "fat" ( uhuh!) He looked so sad, hungry, and in desperate need of care, we knew we couldn’t just leave him there. Luckily a very kind man named Clifford ( my stepfather) Paid the man $800 for him, and we brought him home. He loaded like a gentlemen and rode like an angel.Turns out Bill is about 30! and has laminitis in his front feet. See his story and photos on the before and after page.
