PhiOS is an operating system that can run on any machine and can run any program ever known. Its heuristic capabilities allow it to adapt to any machine it's run on, even those that it's supposedly not optimized for. (It's worth noting, however, that there are many varieties of PhiOS; for instance, Nemesis Edition has been optimized for Interfaces and Implants. A computer running Nemesis Edition will work better with an Interface than another operating system. Other PhiOS varieties will work, and eventually adapt, but will not have the on-the-fly capabilities of Nemesis.) PhiOS also has the ability to "look" at a program that was not originally designed for PhiOS and adapt itself to be able to use it.

Most of all, PhiOS is a free, open-source operating system. Though it is officially develpoed by The Beaches Project, it is well known that users have also tweaked PhiOS to suit their needs. Especially crafty users are often hired straight into The Beaches Project.
