2009 Sydney - Hobart Yacht Race

Photos from the pre race tactics, race start and the run down Sydney Harbour to the Heads can now be viewed.

It was a grey day on the harbour due to the remnants of a cyclone passing through, the upside being the first spinnaker start to the race in more than five years.

2009 Classic Adelaide - Saturday & Sunday

A selection of pics from Saturday and Sunday of the 13th Annual Classic Adelaide Rally are now available for viewing.

For the third consecutive year, the event was won by Kevin Weeks and Bec Crunkhorn.

2009 Supertruck Nationals Round 4 - Mallala: The Last Blast

 

The Australian Supertruck Championship bid a final farewell to Mallala with a two day meeting on October 30 & 31.

Fittingly, the championship was down to the wire and was decided in the last race of the day

A small field made an assault on the Kuitpo Forest area of the southern Adelaide Hills for the 2009 asp Kuitpo Forest Sprint Rally on October 25.

2009 Wirrabara Forest Rally - SARC Round 5

Photos from the final round of the '09 South Australian Rally Championship are available for viewing.

Plenty of mud and water crossings in an event shortened by some late route changes due to heavy rain in the days prior to the event.

Lobethal Grand Carnival - A Stroll Down Memory Lane

History was repeated in the picturesque Adelaide Hills hamlet of Lobethal 70 years after the Australian Grand Prix of 1939.

The original, almost untouched, road course of 8.7 miles (14km) and 47 bends played host to a stunning array of cars and motorcycles of yesteryear for a series of "spirted" demonstration laps over the two day carnival.

Elfin Sportscars 50th Anniversary Regularity Challenge

Images from the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Elfin sportscars held at Mallala Motorsport Park in South Australia.

The iconic South Australian built Elfin celebrated it's 50th Anniversary with a regularity challenge on August 15, 2009. The company was founded by the late Garrie Cooper and built a total of 248 cars from the workshop in Adelaide. The marque was raced by greats such as Vern Schuppan, Didier Pironi and James Hunt. Today the company produces high performance road cars and is now based in Melbourne and owned by Tom Walkinshaw.

2008: The year that was - The Best Of.

From an estimated 70,000 pics taken during 2008, I've managed to whittle them down to around 300 photos.

This album contains my best and favourite images of 2008 - from fireworks and speedboats to race cars and wrestling and the arrival of the QANTAS A-380 Airbus, there is sure to be something to please the visual senses

Phil Williams is a semi - professional freelance photographer based in Adelaide, South Australia.

Concentrating mainly on motorsport, Phil has photographed a multitude of events including many V8 Supercar rounds such as the world famous Clipsal 500 and Bathurst 1000 through to Rally Australia, the Indy Carnival on the Gold Coast, the Australian Formula One Grand Prix both in Adelaide and Melbourne, the Rally of South Australia and the Classic Adelaide Rally plus many state and club level race meetings and rallies.

He is a Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) accredited photographer. CAMS accreditation is eagerly sought and can only be achieved by meeting stringent criteria.

Phil has photographed numerous other sporting events over the last 21 plus years including AFL Football, International Cricket, The Tour Down Under cycle race, Adelaide International Horse Trials plus the prestigious Bay Sheffield Athletics Carnival, Adelaide Rugby Sevens, the ANZ Championship Netball Series and the Sydney-Hobart Yacht Race.

In 2008 Phil was named as the South Australian Rally Photographer of the Year and repeated the feat in 2009.

His images are regularly published in both Motorsport News and the online version, Motorsport eNews. Photos are also supplied to the SARally.com website and several local car clubs for use in their regular magazines, newsletters and websites as well as many other publications.

He has also had images from news and sports events published in many of Australia's daily newspapers including the Adelaide Advertiser, Melbourne's Herald Sun and The Courier Mail in Brisbane.
In addition, several images have featured on the Channel 10 Adelaide News weather segment, "Extreme Weather".

Phil also provides New Zealand sports image agency, nzsportsmedia.com with content from Australia

If there is something you like, most images are available for purchase, however due to contractual and other restrictions, some images may only be available to bona fide media outlets for editorial purposes. This especially applies to images of V8 Supercars which are only available for publication and commercial requirements and require approval from the team in question prior to use and are unable to be purchased for private use.
