"We were all learners once"

Phil Smith School of Motoring

Welcome to Phil Smith School of Motoring. I am an Approved Driving Instructor based in High Littleton (BS39) covering the Bath Area (BA1, BA2 and BA3). I offer tuition for the novice up to Pass Plus as well as refresher & motorway courses.

Thanks for taking the trouble to look at my website. I hope you find it informative and a useful tool to aid you with your ambition to becoming a confident and competent driver. I am qualified to teach pupils from novice through to pass plus. Information on lessons and courses are in my section named "courses".

Qualified Driving Instructors display a green badge in their windscreen, whilst trainee Instructors display a pink one. This does not necessarily mean you will get a lower standard of instruction; however a trainee can only remain so for a certain period of time. Therefore if they do not qualify, they may not be able to remain with you for the whole training process.

Test Centres I am familiar with are; Bristol - Brislington. As well as providing tuition in getting you through your practical test, I will also help you with your theory. Have a look at my 'useful information' section or click here http://www.freewebs.com/philismith/usefulinformation.htm for some hints and tips.

Learning to drive is not an easy skill to achieve, especially on today's roads. Accidents involving young or inexperienced drivers is a hot topic at the moment and I am sure we have heard stories in the press or seen flowers by the roadside all too often. As a driving instructor it is not only my responsibility to show you how to learn how to drive a car, to manoeuvre a car and what the signs mean. It's about understanding your responsibility as a new driver and the consequences that poor and dangerous driving can have on yourself and others.

My attitude is to enjoy learning and to treat others as you wish to be treated. Prior to becoming a Driving Instructor, the majority of my working career was spent working for Yellow Pages (YELL as they are now) in various roles. One of these was as a trainer and the experience I gained and training given to do this role was invaluable. People have many styles of learning, therefore I try to implemet a variety of ideas to suit each individual within my teaching.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, if you have any questions or need advice on getting your licence or theory training, just ask. If I don't know the answer, I will find out for you.

All the best & Safe Driving,

Phil Smith - October 2007
