Uefa Cup: Partizan 4 (1) Egaleo 0 (0)

Bright Start
FK Partizan got their UEFA Cup Group E campaign off to a winning start with an emphatic victory against Egaleo FC in Serbia and Montenegro, a result that leaves the Greek side still bottom of the section after their second defeat.

Ilic double
Saša Ilic scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to add to Ioannis Christou's earlier own goal and end Egaleo hopes of finding their way back into the match. Simon Vukcevic then sealed the victory to the delight of the 15,000 spectators on a bitterly cold night in Belgrade.

Early endeavour
Vladimir Vermezovic's side showed their attacking intent early and on two minutes defender Nemanja Rnic headed narrowly wide from a corner. Vukcevic could have broken the deadlock on 21 minutes after a glorious run but did not beat goalkeeper Mahamadou Sidibe.

Own goal
The disappointment did not last long as within a minute the home side were ahead when Christou sliced a clearance from Ifeaniy Emeghara's cross past his his own keeper under pressure from Pierre Boya. Egaleo, who lost 1-0 to Middlesbrough FC on Matchday 1, almost regained parity on 33 minutes when Georgios Barkoglou shot wide with a rasping drive from 20 metres.

Ilic double
Partizan dominated after the interval and finally beat the resilient Sidibe ten minutes after the restart when Ilic tapped in Dragan Ciric's cross. They struck again from close range five minutes later after Nenad Djordjevic had glanced on a Vukcevic corner and Ilic, free at the back post, headed past Sidibe.

Lazio test
Vukcevic added a fourth from long range to seal a comprehensive win for Partizan, who travel three weeks from now to S.S Lazio, who are Egaleo's next opponents in Greece on 2 December.

Stalemate seals Partizan progress
FK Partizan moved through to the group stage of the UEFA Cup after a tight 0-0 draw against FC Dinamo Bucuresti in Romania enabled the Serbo-Montenegrin side to progress 3-1 on aggregate.

Bright Start
The visitors, who also kept a clean sheet in Romania when defeating FC Otelul Galati 1-0 on aggregate in the previous round, started off brightly and enjoyed the majority of early possession. However it was Dinamo who had the first chance on goal, striker Claudiu Niculescu heading into the side-netting at the near post from Constantin Semeghin's cross.

Vukcevic Impressive
With teenager Simon Vukcevic looking impressive in midfield, Partizan continued to press forward and Pierre Boya tried his luck with a long-range shot in the 16th minute that went wide of Uladzimir Hayeu's goal.

Niculescu Dangerous
Although the Partizan defence stood firm in the face of a succession of deep crosses, Niculescu was looking increasingly more dangerous as the half went on and went close for the home side six minutes from the interval with a diving header that flashed just wide of the Partizan goal.

Kralj Saves
Two minutes later Partizan goalkeeper Ivica Kralj was called into action for the first time when Niculescu again beat the visiting defence in the area, only for Kralj to turn away his firm header.

Hit Post
The second half was only six minutes old when Partizan went close to taking the lead. Vukcevic's long-range free-kick took a wicked deflection off a Dinamo defender but, with goalkeeper Hayeu beaten, the ball bounced back off the post.

Substitution Made
Dinamo coach Ioan Andonie then made all three of his substitutions in an attempt to liven up his side and one of the new arrivals, Dennis Serban, created their best chance of the match. His surging run found Florentin Petre, whose cross was back-heeled centimetres wide by Ionel Danciulescu.

Vukcevic Close
The longer the game progressed, the more gaps Dinamo left in their defence, and Vukcevic - the match's most impressive player - should have won the game for Partizan when he raced on to Branimir Petrovic's through-ball, only for Hayeu to stand firm and make a good save. The Serbo-Montenegrin team had already done enough to progress, however, and will take their place in Tuesday's draw - (Uefa.com).

Uefa Cup: Partizan 3 Dinamo 1

In front of so me 12 000+ fans Partizan showed its true colors as it downed Romanian Champions Dinamo Bucharest 3-1 in the first leg of their Uefa Cup tie. Even though this is the first half Partizan has a lot to be proud of with it’s display. Partizan played in a 4-5-1 formation with the youngster Boya given the opportunity up front ahead of Radonjic as a loan attacker.

At the end of the half time interval Partizan was 1-0 down as Dinamo scored early to settle their nerves at the Humska stadium, but nothing could prepare them for the way Partizan was to come out in the second half. Ivan Tomic the new signing this season leveled the score in the 53rd minute after some beautiful touch combination play with Boya. Tomic ran at the Dinamo defence then passed the ball to Boya on the enge of the penalty area; his through ball giving Tomic a great opportunity to score and he did 1-1.

Pierre Boya was rewarded for his efforts one minute later, as Partizan took a 2-1 lead in less than 60 seconds. A long ball was kicked into the Partizan attacking area where Grujesic intervened the ball from the Dinamo defender to set up Boya, his finish was superb to say the least sending the crowd wild.

The game continued to produce some great play, Partizan attacked while Dinamo concentrated on counter attracts hoping it would work. However to the credit of the Partizan defense they held their ground and did very well with the help of Mirkovic and the keeper Kralj. Nenad Brnovic came on late in the second half to cap off a memorable night for all the fans, his 25+ meter shot hit the woodwork however it deflected into goal via the keeper, yet again sending all the fans out of their chairs.

It must also be said that Ivan Tomic missed  a penalty in the first half, his team mate Ciric also missed a 100% chance and Partizan hit the post some 3-4 times in many ways the result could of been much better but the players did their all and that’s all we the fans ask for. If Partizan continues like this we can hope for some bigger and better things in the Uefa Cup, the return leg against Dinamo is in some two weeks with Partizan the favorites to go
though.

Round 1: Preview

Europe is what Partizan is fighting for when they come up against Dinamo from Romania in Belgrade tomorrow night at the Humska stadium. The team after its win against Radnicki in the Prva Liga has been only focused on one thing and that’s the ticket into the Uefa Cup group stage. Although Dinamo have been hit with poor form in their domestic competition tomorrows game will be more than tricky a one.

This is what Ivan Tomic had to say about the up and coming Uefa Cup match
- We know what is waiting for us. Partizan has big ambitions and we want to get into the group stage. But Dinamo from Bucharest is the last hurdle in the race. Ahead of us is a big expectation.

Srdan Radonjic added to Tomic's comments
- It will be hard if we don't score a goal at the appropriate time. I hope that in the first match we will at least get two goals ahead of our opponents. We won't play around, because if things don’t go as planned the return leg in Romania awaits. I don't think that our fans have forgotten how we beat Newcastle last year.

Qualification Preview

The Uefa Cup kicks off tomorrow and the main story of the encounter surrounds Partizan Captain Sasa Ilic who is in doubt after suffering a knee injury less that 9 days ago in the Prva Liga. Apart from Sasa Ilic being in doubt the rest of the Partizan team is ready to take on Otelul in a must win game. The team is expected to play  in a 3-5-2 system, hoping that their earlier win during the week will give them some confidence leading up to the clash. Otelul on the other hand have no injuries and have sent their best team to Belgrade and are expecting to go through. The first leg finished 0-0 in Romania, the game kicks off 19:00 Belgrade time 25.08.2004.

Uefa Cup: Partizan 0 Otelul Galati 0

In a hard physical game Partizan held on for the 90 minutes even though they played with 10 men for just under half and hour. Rnic was handed a red card after he received his second yellow during the game. The second yellow was given in contovercial circumstances, Rnic was clipped by a Otelul attacker and thought that his opponent was going to be given a caution. This however didn't occur and so the Partizan player was sent off.

Both teams attempted to score during the course if the game however there weren't many chances for either team. Otelul from the start played very rough, Nad suffered a bad injury less than five minutes into the game when an Otelul player hit him badly,a substitution resulted and the number 10 Dragan Ciric came on. Even thought the final result was 0-0 the team is optimistic that they will go through after the second leg in Belgrade at the Humska Stadium.

Uefa Cup 2004: Preview
The time has come, the team has put a few hard months of training behind them and is ready to take on the Romanian team Otelul Galati. After a number of difficult pre season games, this will be the biggest test that the team has been presented during the last few months. From what we hear the team is in a great mood and are ready to play, however caution has been expressed into the team and they will play tonight's game knowing their opponents aren't easy beats. Having said this the team is confident they will progress after the two legs. Only one Partizan player won't be able to play tonight and that's Stefan Babovic who isn't eligible to play due to passport troubles. For our Serbian visitiors a live telecast will be on RTS III however Romania 1 Eutelsat will have a coverage also on Satellite. You can also listen to the game on MIP Radio.
