"Poem"

 

After we are gone, our footsteps in the sand may be washed away,

But our memories of this land, will last forever-and-a-day...

The splendour of the Rockies and emerald green lakes,

Beaver Tails & Maple Sugar Cakes,

Meadow flowers and countless waterfalls,

Furry critters large and small, huge shopping malls,

Humidex factor and intense city heat,

Mind-boggling flavours of popcorn, Montreal Smoked Meat...

Provincial accents and qwirks, fly-swatters and blood-thirsty mosquitoes,

Outdoor BBQs, campfire songs and toasting marshmallows,

Steep cliffs and rugged coastlines, bumpy roads deserve a mention...

Crispy streaky-bacon, and a total coffee-obsession,

Wendy's, Subway, McLobster and Tim Horton

Save On Foods, fresh blueberry pie, Emo's cinammon bun...

Colourfully painted houses, art, music and folklore,

Inutschuks and seashells on the shore...

Tuna by the tonne, the largest lobster on the planet,

PEI-Dirt Shirts, souvenir potatoes by the bag...The people we met,

Salt cod, fresh baked beans, Poutine (Chips, gravy and melted cheese)

Moonshine, Ice-Wine, Labbatts...any Strongbow please?

The Royal Canadian Mounties on horseback,

Flying the flags with pride, parades...Fast food, the Donair and the Big Mac...

The screetch of the crows, the grace of a bald eagle in flight,

Hummingbirds, Herons and Storks...Ferries and fishing boats,

Lighthouses, coves and moats...

The call of the Loon, the size of the moon,

Starlit skies, far out tides, Dollar Stores,

Sailing, finding old school friends and making Smores

Campers Christmas in July, log cabins...Centigrade, kilometre

White River's  Winnie the Pooh and the massive thermometer, 

Trails, tales and Interpretive Programs, snow ploughs and Ski-Doo,

Calhoun Bay, L'Orignal, Valemount, Vulcan, Vankleekhill, Neil's Harbour,

Denmark, Denver and even Manchester...

RVs, 5th Wheels and Class A MotorHomes with pull-outs,

Scenic Trails and Tourist Look-outs,

Reds, golds and browns of the leaves in the fall,

Ice hockey, curling and baseball

Oh Canada Eh!?!
