14/07/04 - BBC Radio 2 DJ Johnie Walker was forced to give an on-air apology last Wednesday afternoon when he mistakenly played the album version of Givin' Up by The Darkness, not knowing it contained a number of f-words! A spokesman for the BBC explains: "There was a mix-up in the CDs and we've had one complaint and eight text messages saying: "Well done, but did you mean to play that?""

10/07/04 - The Darkness have teamed up with legendary Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker to re-record Get Your Hands Off My Woman for re-release in America later this year! 01/06/04 - On May 27th The Darkness won an award at the Ivor Novello Awards 2004! The award was for Song Writers Of The Year!

26/05/04 - The Darkness won the Soccer Six event in style and glory! They rampaged through all opponents to win on Sunday May 9th in Liverpool at Everton's Goodison Park! The Darkness cruised through the group stages! The lads beat The Zutons 6-1, Iron Maiden 3-1 and Goldie Lookin' Chains 5-0! In the quarter-finals they beat The Sex Pistols 8-0! In the semi-finals they beat VS 7-2! In the final The Darkness took victory with a 4-1 thrashing of Bryan McFadden's team! The victory in the final was made all the more glorius, because Bryan McFadden's team featured the actor Marcus Patrick who left The Darkness team to join another in last years Soccer Six event! In the immortal words of Justin Hawkins:

"On the day, soccer was the winner. Organisers and spectators agreed that ours was the finest team performance the event had seen in years. ALL of our outfield players managed to score during the tournament. Me and Dan secured star player awards and we all had a great day. It was extremely satisfying to beat Iron Maiden and especially sweet to leave "BIG" Neville Southall flat on his arse, having chipped him from the edge of the area AT GOODISON! Ho ho – next year we'll win EVERYTHING."
