Apius americana

Latin Name

   Apius americana

Alternative Name

   Potato Bean

Description & Uses

Cultivation

Tubers should be spaced approximately 12" apart  and 3" deep from May onwards.  The plants are tolerant of heavy, wet soils and should be grown in full sun or light shade.

A support framework similar to that used for runner beans should be used to support these plants during growth.  The tubers are ready for harvesting when the foilage dies down.
