Chapter 1
The shrine was silent as the sun rose. An old lady with shimmering white hair walked to the shrine for daily chores.
A young girl woke up, with a slam of her fist ton an alarm clock, she glared at her twin brother who stood in her doorway.
"I got it, I got it, I got it,” he chanted as he held up a video game case.
"You spend your money on the stupidest things!" she mumbled and threw the covers off. "Matt let me just say this..." she mumbled.”GET A LIFE!"
Her twin snorted and turned on his heel. "By the way Grams wants you to sweep the front before you go to school," he mumbled before leaving.
She hurried to take a shower, change and to finish up some of her chores done. As she ran outside she almost knocked over Grams.
"I am so sorry Grams!" she coked out.
"It's alright Pepper, did you sweep the front yet?" she asked in a sweet voice.
"Not yet," Pepper replied. She grabbed a broom and began to sweep.
"Well I hope you have a nice day at school dear," Grams smiled and walked away.
Pepper set the broom aside and went inside to grab her bag. She set her slippers aside and grabbed her shoes and skates. As she was putting on her skates Matt rode up next to her on his bike.
"Come on slow poke," he grumbled.
"Awww someone is grumpy," she chuckled and grabbed on the back of his bike.
"Shut up!" he growled and started to move. "So do you and Hood-sensei have a date after school?" Matt sneered.
"Yes and it's a lesson not a date like yours and Suikaura-sensei!" Pepper mumbled with a blush.
"What ever," Matt said in a cold tone. He stopped at a cross walk as the light turned green.
"You know you love me!" Pepper laughed and hugged Matt.
"I'll leave you here I swear to god I will!" Matt chocked out.
Pepper laughed as she grabbed the bike once more. Matt started moving again.
As they got to school people were gathered around the main bored.
"What's going on?" Pepper asked Matt.
"I don't, lets go see," Matt replied and grabbed Pepper's hand, he dragged her through the crowed of people.
They finally got through to find a large poster that said:
COME ONE, COME ALL TO THE KASHINO TEMPLE FOR A PARTY YOU WILL NEVER FORGET!!!!!
Both Matt and Pepper stopped and stared at the poster in shock.
"Oh no," they muttered.
"OH MATTIE!!!!!!!!!" a very girly voice yields.
"Oh god..........." Pepper mumbled, she crossed her arms and glared as a light haired girl ran up to them.
"Hello Mattie," she smiled and glanced over at Pepper. "And Pepper...." she mumbled.
"Ame," Pepper snorted.
"Please don't call me Mattie, Garuno..." Matt mumbled.
"What ever you say Matt-kun!" Ame giggled and grabbed Matt's arm.
"I have to go to class, please let go of me," he groaned and pulled away.
As he walked away he dragged Pepper with him. Pepper turned around, she stuck her tongue out at Ame. Ame crossed her arms and glared.
In home room Pepper talked to a few of her friends as Matt sat alone listening to his headphones. When the teacher came in everyone went to their seats and waited for the teacher to speak. During role, Pepper texted Matt causing him to jump and fall out of his seat.
"Matt-kun! Are you alright?" Suikazura asked as she rose from her chair.
Pepper covered her mouth to hide the smirk that crossed her lips. Matt shot a glare at Pepper, then looked at Suikazura.
"Yes Suikazura-sensei, I am fine," He mumbled and rose. "I lost my balance when I was picking up my pencil," he added and sat down.
By the time lunch came around, Matt had gotten Pepper back,
"Happy now?" she growled and crossed her arms.
"Yep, very," he smiled.
Pepper sat down next to him, out of boredom she looked up at the sky.
"Where do you think they are?" she asked with a sad smile.
"Who?" Matt asked with a full mouth of rice.
Pepper looked at him with disgust but spoke. "Mom and dad..." she mumbled and drew her legs under her chin.
"I always tell myself they're looking down on us with a big smile," he told her and rubbed her back.
"OMIGOD! Matt are you sick!? Do you have a fever?" Pepper laughed.
Matt just grumbled and rolled his eyes.
"Matt-kun!" Ame's voice rang causing Pepper to shiver.
"She makes me sick," Pepper muttered as Ame tackled Matt to the ground.
"Oh Matt-kun! Can I be your date to the festival?" Ame asked.
"NO!" Matt coughed out. "I mean I am already going with someone!" he lied.
“Who?” Ame snapped.
“Pepper’s friend Hunter,” Matt told her as he glanced over at Pepper who turned and looked at him wide-eyed.
Ame rose and walked away her friends trailed after like dogs.
“You’re going to hell for that.” Pepper mumbled.
“What? I didn’t lie…..that much….” Matt muttered.

“Ohmigod! Hunter is coming to live in Japan!” Pepper shrieked.
“There goes the neighborhood,” Matt muttered in a dry tone. “She must be ugly.”
“Oh shut up!” she growled “She is perfectly fine!” Pepper snapped and held out a picture. “Better looking then you!”
Matt took the picture and looked at it for a while. “I guess….,” he mumbled.
Pepper took the picture away from the him before leaving the room. She stopped at the doorway and look back at her brother. “Grams said you have to go pick her up cause I have get a hair cut!” she snickered.
“WHAT?!?” Matt yelled as Pepper slid his door shut.

“SO when does she get here?” Matt asked picking up his bag.
“Um I think it said tomorrow,” Pepper replied.
“Kay,” Matt smiled and head to gym.
He seems way too happy about this…..Pepper thought to herself as she walked to class.
Before school ended Pepper ran to Peter Hood’s classroom. She bowed for being late.
“I’m so sorry Hood-sensei!” she mumbled. She looked up in shock as she saw Suzu Haimichi and Hood kissing.
They stopped and stared at Pepper. Hood moved away from Haimichi.
“Hi Kashino your early,” he laughed uneasily.
Pepper stared at him with her arms crossed. “I’m twenty minutes late Hood-sensei,” she muttered and help up her wrist watch.
“Well um lessons have been canceled for today,” he smiled. He shooed Pepper out into o the hall where she started to walk away. “And Kashino please don’t say any of this to anyone,” he smiled sadly.
Pepper nodded and walked away. She walked to her locker and put her school shoes away. She went outside and put on her rollerblades.
As she bladed home she felt sad. Her twin brother had people gawking at him and people who love him even her teachers, but not her.
She got home an hour later, still up set as she took off her blades and set them near the front door.
“Hello Pepper,” a voice she didn’t recognize as her Grandmother said.
She looked into the sitting room to see a young man with dark brown hair, eyes the color of chocolate, and eyebrow piecing on his left eyebrow. He stood in the middle of the room looking at her with a happy smile.
“Shido?!?!?!” she yelped and tackled him to the ground. “I missed you so much!” She giggled and hugged him.
“Hey if you guys want to have a make out session I’ll leave,” Matt mumbled.
“Shut up!!!” both Pepper and Shido snapped.
Pepper hugged Shido once more. “Why did you move back?” she asked.
“Mom couldn’t find the right guy,” Shido and rolled his eyes.
“That’s sad,” Matt mumbled.
“Oh yeah it is,” Shido grumbled as he sat down on the sofa.
Pepper sat down next to him and smiled. She blushed as he smiled back.
“Hm, how far do you live from here?” Matt asked.
Grams walked in with a tray. She stopped and looked at Shido. She set the tray down and taped her foot.
“I didn’t know we had company coming,” she smiled with a laugh.
As she left Shido chuckled. “I guess she doesn’t remember me,” he smiled.
“I guess not,” Pepper and Matt laughed.
Grams came back with an extra cup, she looked at Shido once again. “You look familiar….What’s your name young man?” she asked in a sweet voice.
“I’m Shido Aino, I used to come here and play with Matt and Pepper,” he smiled with a small blush.
“Ah yes now I remember, you’ve grown into a handsome young man,” she smiled.
“Grams!” Matt and Pepper yelped.
Shido blushed as Grams patted him on the shoulder. Matt and Pepper growled in embarrassment.
Chapter 2
Matt was woken by something jumping onto his stomach. He shot up to see Pepper sitting on him.
“What the hell?!” he snapped.
“Time to get up!” Pepper smiled.
“What?” he growled and looked at his alarm clock. “It’s not even six!” he growled once more.
“I know, but you have to pick up Hunter at the airport,” Pepper smiled evilly.
“Why it’s Friday!!! I need to go to school just like you!” he snapped. “I thought she got here on Sunday!” he glared.
“Well that flight was canceled, so she had to take an earlier flight,” Pepper laughed uneasily. She moved off the bed and headed for the door. “Oh and Grams also needs you here to help get ready for the party.” She yelped and ran out.
Matt yelled at the top of his lungs as he slammed his door shut. While he was changing his cell phone went off.
“Who the hell could that be,” he mumbled as he buttoned up his pants. He snatched up his phone and answered. “Hello?”
“Hi Matt-Kun, I was just wondering if you would like to have lunch with me today,” Ame’s hi-pitched voice giggled.
“What why!?” she yelled.
“I’m just not, I need to go see you later bye!” talking fast he shut his phone and turned it off. “That’s girl is getting on my nerves.”
After he put on his shirt he walked into his bath room and brushed out his hair.
“Matt dear, you still here?” Gram asked, she slid open the door and looked around.
“Yeah Grams in here!” Matt yelled.
Grams walked in, she held out a picture. Matt took it and smiled.
“Pepper thought you should have this in case you for got what Hunter looks like,” Grams smiled.
“Thanks Grams,” Matt smiled and kissed her cheek. He walked out and headed to the kitchen to get something to eat.
There was giggling and laughing as Matt walked into the kitchen.
“Shido?” Matt stopped and stared.
“Hey Matt,” Shido smiled.
“What are you doing here?” Matt asked and sat down.
Oh Pepper wanted me to walk to school with her,” he replyed and smiled at Pepper.
Matt rolled his eyes as he ate. He and Shido talked until he and Pepper had to go. Matt left alittle after they did.
The taxi pulled up to the airport thirty minutes later. Matt told the driver to wait and got out, he looked at his watch. Cursing under hid breath he ran to the gate that Hunter was suppose to be coming from.
Matt looked around them pulled out the picture if Hunter. “Ok pretty lady where are you?” he mumbled.
People flowed out of the gate. There were to many and Matt was pushed aside.
“Hunter-San!” Matt yelled causing people to people to stop and look at him. “Heh sorry,” he laughed uneasily.
“I’ve been standing here the whole time,” a cold female voice mumbled.
Matt turned around to see violet eyes glaring at him. “Hunter right?” Matt coughed.
“Yes and you are?” she asked as she crossed her arms. She had her black hair pulled back into a ponytail, her white bangs hung in her face.
“I’m Matt, Pepper’s twin brother,” he said and held out his hand.
Hunter took it and nodded. “Nice to meet you Matt.” She looked away. “Um where’s Pepper? I thought she was coming to pick me up,” Hunter asked.
“She had to go to school, Grams made her,” Matt told her as he picked up her bags. “The taxi is waiting.”
He and Hunter walked outside, she helped him put her bags in the back. Matt opened the door for Hunter and smiled.
A blushed crossed her cheeks as she got in. She glanced at Matt who was talking to the driver.
Grams stood outside as the taxi pulled up, she paid the man as Matt got Hunter’s things out of the back.
“It’s so good to see you again Hunter!” Grams smiled and hugged her.
“I missed you to Grams,” Hunter smiled and hugged her back.
Matt just stood there wish his arms crossed. Hunter glared at him then walked inside with Grams.
“So Hunter if you up to it, would you like to help me and Matt with the preparations?” Grams asked and grabbed some tea.
“With what?” Hunter mumbled.
“With the 700th anniversary of the temple,” Grams smiled.
“Sure!” Hunter smiled and took a cup of tea.
Matt sat down across from the two as they talked. Not long after that they went to work.
“Wow the phone looks great!” Pepper laughed as she skidded to a stop. She lost her balance and fell. “Ow!” she mumbled and rubbed her scratched knee.
“You ok?” Shido asked and helped her up. He had his hands on the sides of her arms.
“Y-Yeah I’m ok,” she mumbled, a blush crossed her cheeks.
“That’s good,” he blushed and moved away.
Pepper grabbed his hand and dragged him inside. Pepper stopped to see Hunter sitting at the table as Matt talked to her.
“Ofah!” She yelled “Hey Pep,” she mumbled and patted her back. “Um can you get off me? I can’t breath,” she choked.
“Right,” Pepper mumbled and moved away, bumping into Shido who once again placed his hands on the side of her arms. She looked up at him and blushed deeply.
“Oh hoho, Pepper you didn’t tell me you had a boy friend!” Hunter smiled and crossed her arms.
“No were just friends,” Shido blushed and walked away. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow at the party,” he waved and hugged Grams goodbye.
Hunter grabbed Pepper and dragged her to her room. She slid the door shut so no one could hear them.
“Who was he?” she asked with a smirk.
“He’s Shido Aino….He just moved back to Japan. Me and Matt knew him when we were younger,” Pepper blushed.
“Then why don’t I know him?” Hunter asked as she placed her hands on her hips.
“He moved about a year after you left…”She mumbled.
“Let me guess this is the guy you said you like,” Hunter said as she tapped her chin and looked at Pepper who frowned sadly.
“Yep, but then he moved when I was ten,” She mumbled.
“So you’ve had a crush on him ever since you were five?” she asked with a smile.
Pepper nodded. Hunter chuckled, then a look of shock crossed her face.
“Let me ask you this, why does you brother keep looking and smiling at around me?” she asked as she sat down on Peppers futon.
“Not sure……I think he likes you… He kind of also…..never mind,” Pepper laughed uneasily.
“Oh no Pep, what’s going on?” Hunter growled, she rose and placed her hands on her hips.
“Um……well Matt told this girl that you were his girlfriend so she would leave him alone,” Pepper mumbled and started to walk away.
“WHAT?!” Hunter cried her cheeks were a deep red.
“Well you need your rest!” Pepper laughed uneasily.
Hunter sat on her bed land looked into the rest room that was shared and lead into Matt’s room.
“Hunter!” Grams voice rang.
Hunter walked downstairs to see Pepper in a Kimono, it was orange with pink flowers and a pink bow.
“Here I made this for you,” Grams smiled and held out a bundle.
Hunter looked at it, then at Grams. “I-I,” she stuttered.
“Oh just go put it on!” Grams laughed.
She ran to go change. She twirled around as she looked in the mirror. The crimson red made her skin glow. The black flower pattern and bow went with her necklace. When she came out Matt stopped and stared at her.
“I-Is something wrong ?” she asked with a blush.
“N-No,” he smiled as he too blushed.
Grams smiled and looked at Pepper who giggled.
Matt and Hunter glared at them and snorted.
“Shut up Pepper,” they both snapped.
This caused Pepper to laugh and fall over.
Later that night as Matt got ready for bed he heard someone crying. He opened the hall door and heard nothing. He shut it and went to go open Hunters door only to find it locked. Placing his ear to the door he heard Hunter crying.
Matt quickly wrapped his wrapped his wrists and then started to pick the lock. A few seconds later the door made a clicking sound.
“Hunter are you ok?” he whispered into the darkness.
There was nothing only the silence that answered back. As he moved into the room Matt could see Hunter passed out on the floor. Her wrists covered in gashes.
“Matt ran back into the bathroom, grabbed his this bandages, then ran back into Hunter’s room. After he cleaned and wrapped the wounds he picked her up and laid her on the bed. Matt laid down next to her and stroked her check.
“Your very pretty, Beautiful,” he whispered and drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 3
Pepper woke up and went to the computer like normal; checked her e-mails, took a shower, then ate breakfast. She ran up stairs to Hunter’s room and was about to pounce on the bed only to find Matt holding Hunter in his arms.
“Holy!?!?!” she cried and fell backwards onto the floor.
“Hmmmm,: Hunter mumbled and tried to get up. “What……..AHHHHH!” she screamed causing Matt to fall out of the bed.
“What the hell did you two do last night?” Pepper squealed.
“Nothing happened!” Matt growled and walked out.
Pepper followed and stopped at the door. “You ok?” she asked Hunter.
“Yeah,” she smiled.
When Pepper left she lifted her sleeves to find her wrist bandaged. She looked at the bathroom door and sighed.
“Matt…….You ok you seem…. Please tell me you…. You did didn’t you?” She mumbled and sat on Matt’s bed, she crossed her legs.
Matt sat at his computer desk silently. He typed a little more then looked at her with sad eyes.
“Come here…” she mumbled and held her arms out.
Matt moved over to the bed and rested his head on Pepper’s shoulder. Tears flowed from his eyes.
“Shhhhh, take slow deep breaths,” she whispered and patted his head. “Why don’t you go take a cold shower, it always helps,” she smiled.
Matt rose, but stopped. “Thanks Pep Pep,” he smiled then went to the bathroom.
Hunter opened up the bathroom door. She froze as Matt looked at her with a shocked look.
“I’m so sorry!” she cried and turned on her heel only to slip on a puddle of water. She closed her eyes.
Matt helped her up and held her in his arms.
Hunter’s cheeks were a dark red as she looked up at Matt. He moved his face closer and was about to kiss her when Grams walked into Hunter’s room.
“Hunter?” she smiled.
“Coming!” Hunter yelped and ran into her room slamming the door behind him.
Matt held his tooth brush in front of him and blushed.
An hour later, Matt walked downstairs in his baggy pants, white button up shirt , and sweat shirt.
Hunter glanced at him as he walked by. Pepper nudged her and smiled, Grams tapped her on the shoulder and held out a mirror so she could see her hair.
“Thanks Grams!” Hunter squealed and hugged her.
Grams had put it up with chopsticks and curls. She made Peppers fan and flip out of two buns that sat on the top of her head.
Matt walked over to Hunter and whispered into her ear. “You look great Beautiful.”
Hunter blushed and looked up at him shocked. Pepper chewed on a stick of Pocky as she looked back and forth between the two.
“Well as fun as this may be…we need to go to the Festival.” Pepper mumbled and headed for the front. She slide on her sandals and walked out to find Shido standing there.
“H-Hey,” he blushed. He was wearing a dark green hooded sweat shirt and baggy black pants. “Y-You look great,” he smiled.
“T-Thank you,” she smiled.
Shido wrapped his arm around her shoulder as they walked to the festival.
Matt stood there with his arms crossed, a glared shadowed his face.
“What’s your problem?” Hunter asked as she walked up next to him.
“Nothing,” he growled and started walking.
“No it’s something,’ she yelped and ran up to him.
“God!” Matt yelped as Hunter yanked on his hair. “What was that for?”
“You’re pissed that Pepper likes Shido and Shido likes Pepper!” Hunter laughed darkly.
“No!” Matt blushed.
“Oh Mattie!” A high pitched voiced yelled.
Matt turned to see Ame and some of her friends running up. He grabbed Hunter and kissed her deeply.
Hunter struggled then got into the kiss.
A few seconds later they parted. Matt looked deep in the eyes and smiled. Hunter blushed and looked away.
“Mattie…..What’s going on?” Ame asked in a pissed off tone.
“Ame I would like you to me Hunter,” Matt muttered and wrapped his arm around Hunter’s shoulder. “She’s my girl friend,” he added.
Ame turned her face to the side causing her eyes to become shadowed. She raised her hand and almost slapped Hunter, but was stopped by Matt.
“I wouldn’t try that,’ he growled and threw down her hand. “Come on Beautiful,” he smiled and started walking away with her.
“M-Matt we’re not dating,” Hunter mumbled and crossed her arms.
“That could change,” Matt winked. “I’m thirsty, want anything?”
“No, I’m fine,” she smiled.
When Matt left Hunter sat on a bench. She looked around to see Shido and Pepper. Pepper go on her tip toes so she could kiss Shido whom had just won a stuffed animal for Pepper.
“Hey are you Hunter?” A girl asked.
“Yeah?” She replied with her eyebrow raised.
“Will you come with me?” She smiled.
“No,” she mumbled. “You were with that Ame girl,” she snorted.
The girl glared and walked away, Ame walked up with her hands on her hips.
“You have a lot of nerves!” she hissed.
“What are you talking about?” Hunter mumbled and fixed her bow.
“You took Matt away from me!” she snapped, her index finger pointed at Hunter.
“I would appreciate it if you would point somewhere else,” she said in a calm voice. “From the looks of it he doesn’t want to be around you,” she smiled evilly and rose.
A look of shock crossed Ame’s face, it was soon taken over by anger. Her hand rose and struck Hunter across the face.
“You will regret the day you were born!” she yelled and ran off.
Hunter placed her hand on her cheek, she had a emotional look as Matt walked up.
“You ok?” he asked.
“Yeah fine,” she smiled.
Matt wrapped his arm around Hunter’s shoulder and kissed her cheek. They walked off talking and laughing while Pepper and Shido watched.
“They seem to be hitting it off Pepper laughed and hugged her new stuffed animal.
“Yeah it’s good Matt can find someone like him,” Shido smiled.
“I hope I find someone like that,” she whispered and looked up at the starry sky.
Shido looked down at the ground and coughed. Pepper glanced over at him eyebrow raised.
“Shi are you getting sick?” she asked and placed the back of her hand on his forehead. “Hmmm no fever…” she mumbled.
“No I’m fine,” he smiled sadly.
“You’re lying to me,” she murmured. She started to get up, but Shido grabbed her wrist.
“Sit,” he mumbled. “Pep Pep when I was in England I tried dating girls…but none of them could stop me from liking one certain girl………… you.” He whispered and took her hand.
Pepper looked at him socked and unable to speak.
“I guess what I’m trying to say is I-I love you,” he smiled.
Pepper glomped Shido.
Shido was shocked, he soon smiled and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Not soon after fire works shot into the night’s sky. The color bloomed like wild flowers.
Chapter 4
Shido sat at his computer desk typing until he heard his mother crying.
“NO! Please Take I love you!” she cried.
“Shut up!” his father yelled and slapped her.
A few minutes later his mother walked into his room, she grabbed him and hugged him deeply.
“I promise you we will get out of here…,” she whispered.
Shido tipped a bottle back as he finished off the rest of the alcohol. He tossed the bottle into the trash and laid on his bed.
“Honey Matt’s here,” his mother smiled as she poked her head in.
“Let him in,’ Shido mumbled.
She nodded and disappeared, a few seconds later Matt appeared.
“Hey,” he said and shut the door.
Shido just looked at him and said nothing. He nodded and looked away.
Matt couldn’t help but notice that Shido’s eyes were glazed over. He raised his eyebrow and sat down in the computer chair.
“Mind telling me what the hell is going on?” Matt snorted.
“What are you talking about?” he asked and sat up on his elbows.
“Stop playing games!” Matt snapped. “You’re acting as if you “love” my sister and now you’re drunk off your butt! I noticed when you came home with her after school Shi!” he added.
“What do you know?! You act as if you hate her,” he growled. He dismissed the being drunk part.
“But I don’t!” Matt growled. He was now on his feet as was Shido.
“Heh and try living in a family where every day you hear your mother cry because she is either being beaten or raped!” Shido shouted. “Oh wait, you never even knew your mother,” he laughed dryly.
Matt’s temper grew out of control. He grabbed Shido by his collar and slammed him against the wall.
“If you ever bring that up again, I swear to God I will kill you! I don’t care if you are my friend I will kill you!” he said in a dark tone.
Matt tossed Shido aside and walked out slamming the door behind him.
Shido slowly sat down in the computer chair, he reached inside his desk and pulled out a bottle of amber liquid.
“She would die if she ever found out,” he hiccupped.
He wobbled into his bathroom and spilled the bottle into the sink. He sat on the toilet and started to cry.
“I’m so much like him,” he whispered and wrapped his arms around himself. “I hate him! I hate me!” he yelled and slammed his fist into the wall, making a hole.
“Honey, are you ok?” Shido’s mother voice rang.
“Ya mom I’m fine,” he laughed. “I just fell,” he lied and looked at his bleeding hand. “I’m always fine….”he mumbled.
After he wrapped his hand he put a sweatshirt on and then went down stairs. He sat on the floor and watched TV.
“You ok Shido?” Miss Aino asked and brushed his hair.
“Yeah, mom I’m good,” he smiled.
“Good,” she smiled back.
“Hmmm… where are you going?” Shido asked as he looked up at her. “You’re dressed up…” he mumbled.
“I have a lunch date with an old high school friend,” she smiled as she got to the door, Shido threw down the remote.
“You don’t have to lie to me; I know you’re going out on a date with a guy.” Shido mumbled. “He called when you were taking a shower,” he told her and walked into his room.
Miss Aino stood there for a few seconds, and then put on her shoes. Before leaving she glanced at Shido’s door and sighed.
Around midnight Shido heard the front door open and laughter. He opened his door to see his mom and dad hugging.
“What the…,” he mumbled.
“Oh! Your up Shido,” Miss Aino coughed.
“So how was your “Lunch” date?” she growled and glared at his dad.
“It was great and then afterwards I bumped into your father,” she smiled as she placed her hand on the man’s shoulder.
Shido snorted as he crossed his arms with disgust.
“Let me guess your welcoming him back with open arms?” he growled.
“Just for a week honey,” she smiled.
“What ever, I’m not going to be around this jerk,” Shido snorted and walked back into his room to pack.
As he did this his dad walked in. he leaned on the door frame and smiled.
“You’ve turned into a fine young man,” he smiled.
“Yeah no thanks to you,” Shido said in a cold tone.
“Hmmm cute,” Taichi laughed as he picked up an empty bottle. “Does your mother know about this?” he asked.
“Get the hell out of my room!” Shido snapped and shoved him out.
When he had his bag packed he called Matt’s cell.
“Hmmm…Hello…,” a half asleep matt mumbled.
“Hey Matt it’s Shido…Look sorry about how late it is but I need a place to stay…,” he choked out.
“What?” Matt asked confused. “Did your mom find out?”
“No he came back...,” Shido mumbled.
“Who?”
“My dad.”
“WHAT?” Matt coughed.
“I’ll explain when I get over there,” he mumbled and hung up.
When he got out of his room Taichi was standing there arms crossed.
“Where do you think you’re going?” he growled.
“Away from you,” Shido snapped as he started walking toward the door.
Taichi grabbed Shido and threw him on the ground. He sat on top of him and crossed his arms.
“Get off of me!” Shido shouted.
Taichi smacked Shido with his fist. “Shut up!” he yelled.
Shido shoved him off and ran out. Taichi tried running after him, but stopped.
“He’ll be back,” he snorted and walked inside.
Shido sat on the train and looked out the window. He could feel his cheek brsing, it burned with so much pain.
“I hope he dies…,” he mumbled.
As he walked up to the Kashino temple he stopped and looked at
Pepper’s room that was pitch black.
“Hey,” Matt’s voice whispered in the dark.
“Are you ok Shido?” Hunter’s voice asked with concern.
“Hey, wait Hunter?” Shido yelped.
“Shhh!” both Hunter and Matt gasped.
They pulled Shido inside and turned on the light.
“Is Pep Pep up?” Shido asked keeping his bruised cheek hidden.
“No she’s sound asleep.” Matt replied.
“Kay,” Shido smiled at them.
“My God Shido what happened to your face?” Hunter gasped and clasped her hands over her mouth.
“Heh nothing,” Shido mumbled and he started toward the stair case.
“I’ll talk to him,” Matt whispered and took Hunter into his arms.
Hunter pulled away from him and walked upstairs to her room. She shut her door and smiled, her cheeks were a rosy red.
Shido walked into Pepper’s room, he looked around to see posters of cute pink fluffy animals and stuffed animals. Most of her room was pink and orange. He smiled to himself as he slid open her sleeping area door.
Pepper’s lamp was on, light casting a little glow across her face.
Shido kneeled down next to her and brushed Pepper’s bangs out of her face. A frown crossed his lips.
“I will never her you like he hurt her…,” he whispered.
Pepper rolled on her side and mumbled as she took her stiffed animal in her arms and mumbled once more.
“I love you,” he whispered with a smile. He leaned forward and kissed Pepper on the forehead.
Shido walked to Matt’s room and walked inside. Matt was sitting at his computer, he turned around and looked at him.
“So you care to explain?” he asked.
“My moms taking my dad back...’ Shido mumbled and sat down.
“That’s messed up,” Matt snorted.
“Yeah he’s staying for a week,” he muttered.
“So he beat you?” Matt asked.
“Yeah I was leaving and he shoved me down, got on top of me and punched me,” Shido replied.
“That’s wrong,” Matt mumbled. “I’ll get you a bed.” He told Shido and nodded toward the futon.
“Thanks,” he smiled, as he walked over to the futon he stopped. “For the record…I dumped it out.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” Matt smiled and laid down in his bed.
Chapter 5
Pepper sat up and looked around. She threw off her covers and ran out of her other part of her room to find Shido sitting at the table.
“Shido-Kun!” she smiled and hugged him causing him to fall on the ground.
“Hey Pep Pep,’ he smiled and wrapped his arms around her.
Pepper pulled away and looked at his cheek with shock. She genteelly touched the bruise.
“What happened?” she asked with a sad small voice.
“Your brother really needs to clean his room,” Shido laughed, he placed his hand on top of Pepper’s. “You should go get ready for school,” he whispered before kissing her.
Pepper nodded.
Shido followed her out of the room; she went to the bathroom as he went downstairs.
“Oh Shido-Kun! Matt told me what is going on, so your more then welcome to stay here for as long as you want!” Grams smiled and hugged Shido.
Hunter couldn’t help but laugh. Matt rolled his eyes as he stuffed his face.
“Maybe you could get a hob at the place Matthew works at,” she said and nudged Matt.
“Sure, I’ll talk to him about it,” Shido smiled and sat down. “Hey Matt do you have an extra bike?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Matt said and rose. “It’s out back, I’ll go get it for you,” he said and walked out.
A few minutes later Pepper walked in fixing her hair. She had a cut on her cheek that was bleeding a little.
“Oh Pepper what did you do?” Grams asked as she took a cloth to dap the blood off.
“I caught the edge of the sink as I went pick up my brush,” she mumbled with a blush.
Hunter stared at Pepper as she glanced at Matt as he walked in. Matt raised his eyebrow at Pepper, but shrugged.
As Pepper was putting on her rollerblades Hunter walked up behind her and tapped her foot. Pepper turned around slowly to see pissed off violet eyes glaring at her.
“Yes…?” she mumbled.
“Care to explain?” she growled and pointed at Pepper’s cheek.
“I-I cut it on the counter,” she coughed.
“The counters have covers on the edge.” Hunter replied. “That’s a knife cut, trust me I should know,” she whispered and skated past.
Pepper watch as Hunter skated away. She placed her hand over her cheek and sighed.
“Hey, ready?” Shido smiled, he pulled up on Matt’s old bike.
“Yeah I’m ready,” Pepper smiled and grabbed her bag.
“You seem a bit out of it,” he mumbled and started to petal.
Pepper grabbed the back of the bike. “I do?” she asked with a giggle.
“Yeah you do…” Shido replied and began to move.
She didn’t say anything as they moved through the streets. She had remembered Hunter-sensei say something about a new student or whatever.
I wonder who this new student is Pepper thought as she parted from Shido. She took off her skates and traded them for her school shoes.
She made her way into the main hall to see a blond haired guy with light skin talking to Hunter. Pepper ran up to get a good look.
“Yeah this school can be a bit confusing,” Hunter laughed, she smiled at Pepper as she walked up.
“Who’s this?” Pepper asked.
“Pepper this is Kael, Kael this is Pepper,” Hunter said as she pointed back and forth between the two.
“Nice to meet you,” Pepper smiled. “Well I’m off to see the wonder wizard,” she laughed, with a spin she ran off only to smack into a boy named Ramsis.
Ramsis was about 6’2” with a light tan. His light brown hair was hidden by his hat. He was taller then Pepper so he had to look down at her.
“Sorry,” he mumbled in his quiet way.
“No it’s my fault,” Pepper laughed.
Oh great! Just what I need! She snapped at herself.
“Is something wrong?” he asked.
“N-No I’m fine.” She said as she waved her hands.
“Your spirit energy says other wise,” Ramsis mumbled and began to walk away.
Pepper stood there shocked. When she snapped put of it Ramsis was no where to be found.
Standing in a hallway, all alone was Ramsis, he was looking at an opened window as if in a trance.
“Ram-“Pepper let out a shriek as Ramsis fell over the window sill.
Just in time she grabbed the collar of his school uniform.
“Uck, my god your heavy,” she yelped and moved her arms under his.
She finally pulled him back in, he was breathing hard.
“What the hell…” Pepper coughed. She too was breathing hard but not as much as Ramsis.
Not long after the fiasco Ramsis woke. He looked confused and helpless as he looked around, finally his eyes fell on Pepper.
She was sitting on her knees, hands rested on the floor.
“Your awake! I’m so glad!” She squealed and glomped him.
“What happened?” he asked, a sound as if he were afraid.
“You were about to commit suicide.” Pepper yelped as she pointed to the opened window.
“Thank you,” he whispered.
“Your wel-“
Pepper was cut off by the school bell.
Ramsis laughed, this was the first time Pepper had heard it.
“Something wrong?” Ramsis asked and rose.
“No, it’s nothing,” Pepper blushed, she glanced down the hall to see Matt staring there arms crossed. “I have to go Ram, I’ll talk to you later!” She yelped while getting up she dropped a few things.
“Hey wait!” Ramsis called, but she was gone. He picked up a leather bond book. “You dropped something,” He mumbled.
A small orb floated next to him. It glowed and took form.
“You know you should look through it.” A male voice laughed.
“Oh hush up Yakan,” Ramsis growled, he began to walk away.
“Did you have another black out?” the guy asked, he floated alongside Ramsis. “Cause you seem grumpy, that always happens when you black out.”
“Oh hush up!” Ramsis snapped. “What do you know? You’re a ghost!” he added.
“I’ll have to know I was alive in the 1800’s!” Yakan snapped back and pointed at his clothes.
They argued all the way out of the school, all the way to the train, and all the way to Ramsis’ house.
Ramsis sat in his room, flipping through the leather bond book, he was getting a little bored with the pictures of Matt Kashino and Shido Aino. Until he came across a picture of him.
A small blush crossed his cheeks. He set the book to the side.
“Aw Ram your blushing!” Yakan laughed as he popped out of no where.
“Shut up!” Ramsis yelled, he tossed a pillow that went right through Yakan.
Yakan began to snort with laughter.
