The well known Pentland Shetland Pony Stud was established in 1952.  It has been owned and managed by Mrs. Betty Myers, who spent many years studying the Shetland breed, including trips to Britain, the Shetland Isles, Europe and the U.S.A.

Mrs. Myers was nominated by the late Major Maurice Cox and accepted as a Life Member of the Shetland Pony Society of Britain in 1972.  She has been a member of the Australian Pony Stud Book Society for 56 years, having served on that Society’s Committee for some years and has been granted a Life Membership of the A.P.S.B.

Pentland Shetland Stud offers you the opportunity to secure outstanding top quality mares and stallions for your stud.   Also offered are stud fillies & colts for those wishing to obtain future breeding stock, or for use in their showing program.  Shetland geldings are versatile animals – able to be used in riding and led in classes, in harness, for pleasure driving in one day events and marathons.  Geldings also make good mounts for children who ride just for fun, and they also make good competitors in the popular sport of harness pony racing.

Twin Acres mares with T.A. Midas

Betty’s daughter, Annette, started her own stud, Twin Acres, in 1980, with the gift of a little grey filly, Pentland Cinderella.  In the ensuing years, the stud has grown to over 20 broodmares, and too many stallions!

Twin Acres ponies are registered with the Australian Miniature Pony Society, with some duel registered with the A.P.S.B., A.P.P.A., & M.H.A.A.  Annette’s penchant for COLOUR in her ponies sees a wide variety including taffies, palouse, roans, and the base colours can be found in her Twin Acres stock.  There are even a few decendants of the first little grey.

With Betty’s age finally catching up to her, and her health being not so good, it has been decided to drastically reduce the numbers of mares & stallions on all properties to make it more manageable for Annette and her family to run.

VALE: Betty Myers passed away peacefully on March 23rd 2009, now with her beloved Gil & the ponies of their past.
