Bont Unhappy With Postponement

Cambrian Tyres league 1 side, Bont, have written a letter of complaint to the league regarding the cancelation of the match against the reserves due to be played on the 23rd of April. The tie was due to be played on Cae Baker but the fixture secretary had not noticed that the first team were playing Denbigh on the same night. Bont are unhappy that the match wasn't played on the 3rd team's pitch at Cae Cwmbwa and, according to Richard Jones, the club refused to play on it. Penrhyncoch Reserves had perfect right not to play there because the pitch is only registered for the 3rd team and were well within their rights.

Derrick Dawson

Penrhyncoch FC wish former Aberystwyth chaiman, Derrick Dawson, a speedy recovery after illness. Derrick is often seen at first team matches and also does the stocktaking for the clubhouse.

Buckley Preview

Penrhyn are back in league action this weekend when Buckley travel to play Gavin Allen's team. With virtually a full squad to choose from, Allen will be well aware that 3 points is a must if they are to start pulling away from the drop zone. Buckley, on the other hand will be confident of a result after they beat Penrhyn, 1-0, 3 weeks ago and will themselves be desperate for points as the season draws to an exciting climax. Congratulations to the reserves on reaching the Emrys Morgan final, they overcame a spirited Llandrindod side 4-2 on penalties after the match ended 1-1. The final will be played on Good Friday (21st), Aberystwyth will probably stage the tie.

Former player/manager of Penrhyncoch, John James, will be the host at Llandyrnog tomorrow. John played in goal for a number of years before he moved away from the area due to his work. Our record against his side reads, played 4 won 4, at Llandyrnog and Penrhyn will once again be looking for all 3 points. They go into the match in good spirits after a solid win against Gresford and a narrow defeat against promotion hopefuls, Bala. With games running out, only 4 of the final 11 will be away from home after this weekend which will be a blessing after a tough season. Steven Hughes retains his place with 16 year old David Griffiths also included in the squad but Graham Thomas is injured.

Penrhyn Building For The Future

Penrhyncoch FC have announced major plans for the 2008-09 season after a meeting with player boss Gavin Allen. He has confirmed that he is committed to the club for the foreseeable future and has plans to bring in 3 high profiled players to the club next year. Provided that the team stays up and avoids relegation, Allen has players in mind to strengthen the side and help bring on the younger players. Rumours around the streets of Aberystwyth have suggested that the club is planning to step back down to the Spar Mid-Wales league, these rumours were put to bed after a lengthy meeting with the committee members and the management. The club is now in the process of puting together a financial package to attract players, some with football league experience. Meanwhile, Allen takes his team up to Carno on saturday in the Central Wales cup in what could be a potential banana skin after Carno's recent good form.

Allen Swoop's For Gornall

Gavin Allen has made an official approach for Bow Street's Mark Gornall in an attempt to lure him back to the club. Gornall left the club for the Mid Wales side at the begining of the season after a diagreement with the management but, Allen feels that the experienced campaigner will be a valuable addition to the squad. Penrhyn face a tough match tomorrow when they travel to Anglesey to take on Glantraeth who have won the past 3 encounters at home against their visitors. The player boss still has a couple of injury worries, Mark Egan (groin), Joe Sherwood (flu) and Tim Turner (back) being his main concerns.

Match Doubtful

Penrhyn's home clash against Flint is hanging by a thread due to the severe frost this week. Gavin Allen is set to ring the changes after last weeks shocking performance away at Lex when they lost 3-0. He has yet to name the squad and will leave it until the last moment but, changes will be made.

Sour Grapes

Aberystwyth Town 3rds assistant manager, Barry Rowlands, has written to the Cambrian Tyres League complaining about the postponement of the match between Penrhyn Res and Aber 3rds last saturday (15th). Rowlands, former Penrhyn Res.manager, has allegedly stated that the club canceled the match when the pitch was fit to play on. We (Penrhyn on-line) wish to ask Aberystwyth Town FC whether the letter was an official club letter or just from the individual. Having struggled all season, suprisingly the Town's 3rds wanted to play. Was this due to the fact that the Aber Res.game was off?

Penrhyncoch welcome Guilsfield to Cae Baker tonight (wednesday) in what can only be described as a must win game for the home side. With 4 out of the next 6 games away, Gavin Allen's men must be looking to bag all three points against an in-form Guilsfield team who recently knocked out Connahs Quay in the Welsh Cup. He has selection worries with Liam Hinton-Jones, Dave Gregory and Allen himself all out injured and with Cieran Cotter away on holiday, this will be a massive test for the squad. One piece of good news is that the transfer of Gari Lewis looks certain to go ahead in the new year, he has been training with the club and hopes to finalise the move soon.

Due to the FAW rules, Lewis will have to wait until January 1st before making his debut when the transfer window re-opens for the Cymru Alliance. The player boss still hopes that Lewis will come on board to further his coaching ambitions or he could turn out for the reserves until the new year. This will be a huge boost for the club as it seeks to put a package together to bring the local lad home.

Penrhyn travel to the furthest point possible tomorrow as they visit Holyhead Hotspurs with the knowlage that a win will see them climb into the top six of the league. The hosts are in a similar position to us in the league but  results at Holyhead are difficult to come by, therefore Gavin Allen's troops will have to perform well to get anything out of the game. He has almost a full stength squad to choose from with only the player boss himself unavailable through injury. Toby Spain returns in goal after Dave Gregory's comendable debut last week and, with many of the squad playing for the reserves, there is a real battle for places in the side. League Cup Preview

Penrhyncoch manager, Gavin Allen, has chosen a youthful looking side for the visit of GAP Queen's Park tomorrow in the first round of the league cup. He has decided to rest a number of key players and intends to start quite a few teenagers. Toby Spain, Joe Sherwood, Mark Egan, Tim Turner, Dylan James and Chris Wilkins are all given a much needed break from the starting line up and there will be starts for reserve players, Dave Gregory, Ben Sherbon, and Ashley Stephens. This is an obvious gamble from the player boss but he does have a lot of faith in the youth players from the second team and, against big spenders GAP there wont be a stiffer test for these lads.

Although this is a great shame for Bodedern and we wish them well in the future, it's good news for Penrhyn as we have yet to play them and the teams above us will have the points won against Bodedern taken off. Aberystwyth Town reserves manager, Emyr (Brains) Jones, has failed to lure one of Penrhyncoch 1st teams most promising players in joining him. Martin Naughton had been rumored that he wanted a transfer to Aberystwyth but has now decided to stay with Gavin Allen . Naughton is included in the 14 to play Lex IX on saturday in which is proving to be a must win game for the home side. With no league game for 3 weeks after saturday, Allen will be looking for all 3 points to pull away from the lower regions of the table. Penrhyn have virtually a full strength side to choose from with only James Shields unavailable. The next 2 games are a double header against GAP Queen's Park in the Welsh Cup and League Cup.

SQUAD: T.SPAIN, M.EGAN, LL.HUGHES, D.JAMES, I.ROBERTS, C.COTTER, C.WILKINS, T.JONES, G.ALLEN, J.SHERWOOD, M.NAUGHTON, S.FRASER, T.TURNER, M.DAVIES

Welsh Cup Preview

Penrhyncoch take a break from league action tomorrow when they travel to Spar Mid-Wales side Carno in the 1st round of the Welsh Cup. After last year's exploits when the club lost out to Llanelli, Gavin Allen's team will hope to repeat the run. The cup is very lucrative to the club and has cash rewards for every match won, the further we go the more money we win. He has chosen a mixture of youth and experience with the inclusion of Owain James and the promising Ben Sherbon and has a full squad to select from.

SQUAD: T.SPAIN, M.EGAN, LL.HUGHES, J.SHEILDS, I.ROBERTS, J.SHAW, S.FRASER, G.ALLEN, T.TURNER, D.JAMES, T.JONES, O.JAMES, B.SHERBON, C.WILKINS

Players Approached?

It has come to the attention of Penrhyncoch on-line that players have, allegedly, been approached illegally from Aberystwyth. The club has not received any letter of intent from Aberystwyth which, by the Welsh FA laws, must allow 7 days notice before contact is made. Penrhyncoch FC chairman, Graham Thomas, has expressed his anger by stating  the club might report Aber and the officials involved to the Welsh FA. Details of the players are confidential at the moment until further questions are answered but the source of the approaches look very obvious.

Meredith Leaves For Caersws

The temptation of League of Wales football was enough for Sion Meredith to leave Penrhyncoch this week. Caersws manager Mike Barton had previously put 7 days notice on the forward after impressing him in the 4-1 drubbing of Guilsfield, where he scored 3 goals. This is a massive blow for Gavin Allen and the club but with a greater financial offering it was always going to be difficult to keep hold of him. Everyone at Penrhyncoch FC wishes Sion well and we hope to see him back at the club soon.

Ruthin Preview

A must win game for Penrhyn tomorrow as they travel up to Ruthin. Gavin Allen's squad is down to the bare bones for this trip with no less than 5 players absent. Joe Sherwood (hip), Iwan Roberts, Josh Shaw (cricket), player/boss (back) and Mark Gornall (transfered to Bow Street) are all unavailable. Nevertheless he still has a talented squad to choose from and will be looking to come home with the points. News also from the club is that Caersws have placed 7 days notice on S.Meredith, the ex-Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Welshpool player has been on top form since his arrival in pre-season and Allen is determind to keep his major signing.

SQUAD: T.SPAIN, M.EGAN, J.SHIELDS, C.COTTER, D.JAMES, C.WILKINS, S.MEREDITH, T.TURNER, A.STEPHENS, M.DAVIES, M.NAUGHTON, LL.HUGHES, T.JONES, S.FRASER.

Guilsfield Preview

Penrhyn travel to their nearest Mid-Wales rivals tonight (50+miles) looking for the first victory of the season. Our record in Guilsfield has been good over the past seasons with 1 win and 2 draws in the last 3 encounters. Guilsfiled are starting a new era under new boss Graham Evans after the departure of Mike Barton to L.O.W. side Caersws, he has signed a number of new players from neighbouring teams and will also be looking for their first points of the season after a 4-0 drubbing at the hands of Llandudno over the weekend. Penrhyn on the other hand will be full of confidence after a creditable 2-2 result against league moneybags GAP Queen's Park. Gavin Allen has decided to shuffle his squad slightly and will choose from: T.Spain, M.Egan, T.Turner, J.Shields, C.Cotter, I.Roberts, C.Wilkins, S.Fraser, G.Allen, D.James, J.Shaw, LL.Hughes, A.Stephens, T.Jones. GAP Queen's Park Preview

Penrhyn kick off the new season with a tough home tie against Queen's Park tomorrow. Having ended last year rock bottom, the Wrexham based club have had a remarkable change around with a major cash injection from a local business (GAP). The club have signed a number of former L.O.W. players this year and have Roger Preece, the ex Newtown boss, as their coach.

Gavin Allen's squad have one or two injury worries, Elwyn Edwards will be missing for a while with a broken ankle, Dave Gregory has a sore neck while Tony Jones faces a late fitness check. Tim Turner is also rated 50/50 due to his presence at the Welsh golf team championships held at Carmarthen golf club, also missing are Josh Shaw and Iwan Roberts because of cricket commitments. His squad is made up from the following:

Toby Spain, Dylan James, Llyr Hughes, Mark Gornall, Tim Turner, James Shields, Stuart Fraser, Chris Wilkins, Mark Davies, Tony Jones, Gavin Allen, Ceiron Cotter, Martin Naughton, Sion Meredith, Joe Sherwood, Mark Egan.

Penrhyn Reserves also start their campaign tomorrow with a tricky match against Aberdyfi away. Jonny 'Bobble' Evans will be boosted by the strong first team squad this year and with the introduction of, one player one club, the reserves will be a difficult side to beat. Aberdyfi will be far from easy as they always seem to be strong at the start of a new season.

Meredith Signs

Highly experienced player Sion Meredith put pen to paper on Thursday (aug 1st) by signing for the club for the forthcoming season. Meredith who has previously played for Aberystwyth, Carmarthen and Welshpool in the league of Wales has commited himself for the up and coming campaign. His record in top flight football reads, played 193 and scoring 29 goals. His signing, along with three or four others, must please manager Gavin Allen and shows the club moving in the right direction. With the squad now complete, it's all eyes on that all important first game against the league favourites, GAP Queens Park on the 18th of August.

The res/3rds have a friendly tonight (thursday) against Penparcau at Cae Baker, ko.7.00. The first team travel to Builth Wells on Friday for a friendly, ko. 7.30.

NEWS FROM THE CHAIR

The Chairman Mr G Thomas would like to express his deep concern on various reports contained within this site - he would like to report that at a full committee meeting in was resolved that all senior teams would play in the same kit. The ex- reserve team manager did not adhere to this and ordered a kit prior to the 1st team who it was passed, the other two teams would follow.

The Chair is anxious to put the record straight.

I would like to add that this site was opened up to report on the Club - if anyone has been upset or put out then I can only state that whats put on is not necessary the webmasters opinion. I believe that there is a need for a new webmaster, If anyone is willing to take over then please log on to www.freeserve.com and the username is penrhyncoch with the password ******. These can then be changed to reflect the new webmasters preference.

This webmaster has resigned, the 3rd that has been in place since the start - good luck to the next one and good luck to the team for the rest of the season.

Bye.

Thanks to Gav and Bones for this info - plenty food for thought - come and see the lads prior to the big KO 18/8/07 (h) v GAP QUENNS PARK

WE'RE OFF

Well it was hard - thats what my sources say about the first 3 sessions of trianing last Friday and this Tuesday and Thursday - a good turnout, a good laugh and a thumbs up to Kev Bryan is the verdict. Hard work put in now will reap benefits in the season there's no doubt about that so well done lads and keep it up.

The first's have there first friendly on Monday night at Cae Baker against newly promoted Spar Mid Wales League side Bow Street  - ko is at 7.00pm I believe - then, according to an e-mail from Bones the Reserves and Thirds will continue to train on Tuesday and Thursday at Cae Cwmbwa (top pitch) at 6.30pm.

Bones would like me to point out that next Friday the Junior Section has its presentation night from 6.00pm to 8.30pm - with over 60 players in our Junior Section please try and pop in to see and support our future stars - from our U16's to our U7's - Gavin Allen will be in attendance as the first team also have a friendly at home that night - so with a bit of luck the youngsters will be able to see the firsts in action for a while. There will be a BBQ and Raffle with all proceeds going towards the Juniors. Well done to the Junior Section Coaches - Geriant, Kev Lewis, Stan, Bones and Debs.

Stan Richards has been tempted away to the big Green and Black apple to run Aber Thirds - do we wish him the best  - of course unless he's playing against Penrhyn.

UPDATE

It's all gone a bit quiet this week - players signed on last week after meeting the new management team - apparantly we've got a head start on the rivals for our Res and Thirds because if you sign for the first team on the Cymru Alliance form you can also sign for the Res and Thirds.

About 25 odd players have signed to date - more to come

Will keep all the Penrhyn Fans updated as soon as I hear anything - it's costing me a bomb going from cafe to cafe to find out the snippets of info etc. I am plucking courage up to make an appearance in the Club prior to the season - the last time I was there was at a mates 21st party - what a night.

More to come!!!!!!!!!

WEB CLEARANCE

Hi folks - you may notice that some of the pages have now been cleared  - don't worry its only so that they can be refreshed with the latest info as soon as its available - no news of friendly fixtures as yet for any of the Senior Teams - also remember we will have a Youth Team this year in the Mid Wales League - info has it that Bones is in charge - who else!!!! - along with Jon Bobble, Carwyn and Ffred/Sion James when available.

Looks like an exicting year for our U18's - don't forget we also have 4 teams in the Bow Street Tournament on 14/15th July - I understand from the grapvine that we'll have the U9's on Sat the U14 girls,U16 boys and our U7's will be on Sunday - why not venture down to see the stars of the future. Remember the work that Geriant, Kevin Lewis, Debs and Bones does with these kids.

Apparently there was a very interesting football club committee meeting a couple of weeks ago - my inside source tells me that a few dinosaurs have been found alive and well - although the source did not want to enlarge on there throw away comment in a cafe in town as I think they realised they had said too much  infront of the audience - damm if only he had.

Thats it for now - will keep digging and listening - remember this is your club - you have a right to be kept in the picture - I won't be able to report myself for the next week or so because I'm - well that'll give it away won't it -

WE'RE BACK ON LINE

Hi folks we're back on line for the new season and after my travels - plenty to discuss this week after the Club Presentation night as you can hardly call it a Dinner in that sense can you is what I hear - I'll give a full run down of the awards etc later. I have been asked to point out that the behaviour of some of the Clubs players at the event was rather less than desired and these players need to take a long hard look at themselves - and some of them want more for next year - you must be having a laugh.

1ST TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR - JAMES SHEILDS - not an example shown by him to our youngsters I assure you at his acceptance speech.

TOP GOALSCORER - GAVIN ALLEN - who else?

CLUB CAPTAIN  - JON FOLINO - he'll be back

2ND TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR - STUART DAVIES - fully deserved - grew in stature through the season.

TOP GOALSCORER - JOSH SHAW - potential

CAPTAIN - GETHIN WILLIAMS - great year

3RD TEAM

PLAYER OF THE YEAR - MARTIN EVANS - must be knocking on the door of the reserves now.

TOP GOALSCORER - DANNY HARRIES - lucky he's not playing in the nick team next season

CAPTAIN - STAN RICHARDS - stuck with the team through thick and thin

The night was presented by Richie Jenkins - why can't we have someone else for a change? - he did allright. Entertainment was provided by Dan Pritchard - oops sorry Jon Busson - he was ace. The food was superb and thanks to Anita, Debs and Alleyne - also to Chas, Shan, Eben, Matt, Roger, Neil and Bones during the day - thanks to Becky and her staff - brilliant.

Special mention to Neil Taxis who won the best dressed person award - well done and thanks for all the driving.

Next year we've got to try another approach to the end of season bash - lets go away from the Club - book a date now - find the cost and let people know well in advance - take all the hassle away and let the people who really work hard behind the scences have a ball - just think about it - no need to prepare food - no need to clean up the puke and all that - lets get smartly dressed - women and all - and enjoy.

End of Season Dinner

The Penrhyncoch Football Club end of season dinner will be held this Friday at Penrhyncoch social club from 7:00PM, all are invited and we hope for a good turn out to support the club as all three teams will be present for the great food and the presentations for the players. Penrhyncoch Online will be present to witness the awards and hope that everyone assosciated with the club will be present also ready to steer the club forward for next season.

Season Ends

Penrhyncoch signed off their season with a 3-1 victory over Llandyrnog on Friday Night, the Roosters went into the match trying to climb above their opponents and did so with ten men after Graham Thomas had been sent off early on. Two goals from Mark Gornal and one from Chris Wilkins made sure the Roosters climbed into 14th spot to end the campaign. It has been a very unstable season with penrhyn in the relegation places for most of the season but with a brilliant end of season run which saw just 3 defeats in their last 14 outings saw the Roosters climb the table after most thought it impossible. The season has been an interesting one with many highs and lows but has made good viewing at times, the end of season awards is now on the site so take a look and keep checking us out as with Penrhyn we're sure the close season will see many comings and goings and plenty of gossip to talk about. We would like to thank Carwyn Jenkins, Gavin Allen, BONES and Debbie Jenkins for their support this season and their massive help in keeping us up to date with all parts of the club and look forward to seeing everyone next season where hopefully the team can start as they've finished this season.

Chance of Silverware Gone!!

Penrhyncoch crashed out of the Central Wales Cup in extra time against Llanfyllin on Tuesday night after a hard fought game where Penrhyn played most of the game with 10 men. Penrhyn went behind early but clawed their way back to go 2-1 up with goals from Allen and Carree before the game took a turn when Elwyn Edwards was sent off for bringing down a striker inside his box from which they equalised from the resulting penalty. Llanfyllin then took the lead with a well struck free kick before Penrhyn got back into the game before the interval with another well taken goal from manager Gavin Allen. The game saw a few chances but the devastating blow came deep into extra time when a long ball was headed into the net to make it 4-3 and send the Roosters crashing out and four seasons without a single piece of silverware. Penrhyn will make their last trip of the season tomorrow night (friday) to Llandyrnog in their league encounter with nothing to play for and to put an end to a topsy turby season.
