last friday, feb22, johnar and I, went to casino filipino in parañaque to watch WANDERS. nice show, definitely for the whole family. performers were fantastic! every act is amazing. take time to see it with your family and friends. according to an inside scoop, the show's contract is only until end of feb this year but due to an overwhelming response they got extended for a year. :) oh by the way, isn't it prohibited to use cameras inside the casino? well, try to stay until after the show to get the chance to have your pictures taken with some of the performers, for a fee ofcourse. :)
WANDERS tickets available at ticketworld or you may visit the PAGCOR website for more info.

| THE Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR) raises the bar of family-oriented entertainment as it presents Wanders, a one-of-a-kind musical-circus production, beginning July 14, at the PAGCOR Grand Theater at the Airport Casino in Parañaque City. Featuring the best Filipino performers together with classically-trained Russian dancers and premier Chinese acrobats, Wanders represents PAGCOR’s first serious venture into world-class family entertainment, with an eye on helping promote tourism in the country. The first of its kind in the country, it combines the elements of theater, concert and circus all in one show. “Wanders is a glimpse of the future for PAGCOR in particular and the Philippine entertainment and tourism industries in general,” says Efraim C. Genuino, the state-owned gaming firm’s Chairman and CEO. Besides boasting of a high-caliber cast, the show also features the latest in lighting and stage technology. Chairman Genuino proudly noted that the show was conceptualized and produced purely “by Filipinos with a vision.” “Wanders is not like other shows which we only ‘rent’ from foreign production companies. With this show, we relied solely on our own imagination and creativity,” he said. “From the performances to costume design, it was created and developed with the global audience in mind,” he added. The show likewise represents PAGCOR’s initial step toward bigger projects in the future, as well as the corporation’s shift from gaming to entertainment. “Our vision is to become a provider of total entertainment, not just premier casino gaming. This is our stepping stone toward achieving our goal of becoming a true global corporation,” Chairman Genuino said. Directed by acclaimed stage master Bong Quintana, Wanders is a sentimental journey of two “wanderers” that promises to be a feast for the senses. The story unfolds through the performances of local stars Nonie Buencamino, Calvin Millado and Frenchie Dy, and top local dance groups Whiplash, Hotleggs and the Manoeuvres. “It is the biggest of all the productions I have directed, and when I say biggest, I mean in terms of scope, requirements and preparation,” said Quintana, who with the crew has spent months perfecting the show. “Time, money and expertise have been pulled together to come up with a show which is now a very unique entertainment experience,” he added. Quintana also had the challenge of blending the performances of the Russians and Chinese seamlessly into the local acts of Wanders which the director says promises audiences a “magical evening of fabulous costumes, spectacular production numbers, and mesmerizing acts.” |

we (johnar and I) went to villa escudero last saturday, feb9. it's a nice place, highly recommended for a week end get away.
here are the list of things that we did and did not do.
- took lots of pictures, except in the museum where it's prohibited. the escuderos have a wide collection of the images of saints, jars, knives, blades and swords, head gears, dresses/clothes of our ancestors, coins and paper money, dolls. their museum is a lot better than the national museum, but that is if the national museum has not improved since my last visit which I think was more than 10 years ago.hehe.
- met a distant relative of the escuderos who gave us a sort of tour of the museum and delighted us with his stories of how he remembered (when he was young) seeing some of the stuff that is now exhibited in the escudero museum, he was also surprised to know that johnar is a friend of the late zach escudero, the young man who was killed by a cellphone snatcher.sad.
- had a carabao ride, not on the back of the carabao but on the cart that is being pulled by it. we used to own 2 carabaos, but I have never really stood close to it, never really touched it. this is my first time. :)
- was serenaded by a folk singer, sang with them too!
- went bamboo rafting at the labasin lake. we're pretty good for first timers!
- went swimming.
- watched a cultural show which we did not finish because we find it boring.
- was tempted to check in the hotel because we got tired and sleepy after the bamboo rafting but never did because we find it expensive for our set budget for the trip.
- had lunch at the famous labasin falls. ate all we can of inihaw na liempo, tilapya, pansit, lechon manok, banana cue, ginumis and vegetable salad. burp!
- was not able to visit zach's grave, mausoleum was closed according to the staff.
- did not buy pasalubong. we just thought it's not necessary, the place is not that far from manila and the souvenir shop do not offer unique stuff that is worth buying. they have antiques for sale though, but it sure wouldn't fit our budget so we just decided not to get any souvenir but pictures of the place.
